AA62. COUNTERBLAST faceless 10" (15.05.2010) Finally, 2 new songs (20 minutes) from those amazing swedish band. Ultra intense, dark crust punk in the vein of Dystopia meets Neurosis. Passionate and apocalyptic. The most amazing thing since Neurosis' "souls at zero" in this genre. A harsh, brutal and extremely intense soundmix filled with anger, power, energy and hatred with good political lyrics without clichés. Far away from all the mish mash, not the slightest bit stale, but fresh powerfull and with unrestrained anger they thrash their way through their set. Awesome band and wonderfull record!

AA58 | FALL OF EFRAFA - INLE CD (august 2009) the long avaited final chapter of "the warren of snares" trilogy, FALL OF EFRAFA conclude their mythological tale of an uprising against an oppressive system, based upon an interpretation of the classic novel "watership down" by richard adams. Inle is crushing yet beautiful, ambient and atmospheric heavey post hardcore, bringing to mind the likes of neurosis, buried inside, envy, earth and godspeed you black emperor.

AA57 | UNKIND - NEW LP + CD (15.02.2010) THIS IS FUCKING GREAT. an amazing and totally bleak and definitely their best 4th LP from this finnish band, combining a more muted and moody take on DISFEAR-style rocked out guitar riffs, savagely shouted vocals ala’ VICTIMS, and then the dark and epic scope of NEUROSIS (and their slower, low end lumbering) , TRAGEDY (mood carrying guitar riffs and solos) ARTIMUS PYLE (bursting from all of that into wicked thrash) and their ilk. The Recording is crazy serious and megalithic, allowing the weight of the riffs to be literally oppressive and powerful then just clearing enough space for the band to blast fast thrashier parts. top knotch musician ship, the mood of the whole affair somber as it can get, and while this metallic influenced crust style is seems at times almost completely currently dismissed stateside / locally, if you like any of the five bands I just mentioned, buy this immediately. It began back in 2005, and even though there were many interested individuals, only one lineup had the dedication and perseverance to make the band a reality. The band features Milosz (ex-FILTH OF MANKIND) on guitar, Jeff (ex-DISRUPT, GRIEF) also on guitar, Max on bass and Kevin on drums (both from various Boston bands). Morne draws it's influence from powerful, intense bands such as AMEBIX, NEUROSIS and SACRILEGE. COBRA NOIR are from Montreal, Quebeck. after proving that their debut was no fluke, Cobra Noir's next effort, the split with THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, is yet another hammer to the face, this time delivered with even more venom and malice. Just brooding hardcore that rages with ferocity, it would give a Norwegian black metal goon a case of fudge-laden Fruit Of The Looms. the songs channels the ravenous aggression of almost-forgotten Canadian hardcore kings UNION OF URANUS and the BLACK HAND, both bands who clearly had metal in their hardcore before the term "metalcore" held about as much weight as "I promise." AA49 THE ASSASSINATORS - SIGT EFTER HJERTET LP (2008) (First they released a demo, then came their first 7", and after that came their demo as a 7" - all of them very well received by me and I dare to say a large number of punks worldwide. In late 2007 they visited the studio again and returned with the twelve tracks that became this LP. Charged with emotional melodies and punk attitude they've once again created songs that are impossible to listen to without getting completely sucked in to. I've in earlier reviews said that their lyrics are poetic, but that is also true about their music and the structures of their songs. It's very poppy at times and all this rambling about emotions and poetry might scare away some real hardcore d-beaters, but to avoid any misunderstanding I want to make it perfectly clear that this is without a doubt punk. Punk in a pure and danceable form. Punk to which you can shake your ass while clenching your fist - not in anger but with dedication. The Assassinators makes me believe we can actually change the world to the better, even though they do address some dark topics in their lyrics as well. Still, this band gets me motivated to do what I think is best for myself and others and are doing so while providing one hell of a soundtrack. But The Assassinators didn't just spend time writing music, this LP also comes with a thick booklet full of artwork and all their lyrics in Danish and English, along with in depth commentaries. This band has definitely not forgotten that it's very possible to combine punk, fun, and politics and get a very successful result. The Assassinators makes me believe we can actually change the world to the better, even though they do address some dark topics in their lyrics as well. Still, this band gets me motivated to do what I think is best for myself and others and are doing so while providing one hell of a soundtrack. But The Assassinators didn't just spend time writing music, this CD also comes with a thick booklet full of artwork and all their lyrics in Danish and English, along with in depth commentaries. The songs are transformed chapters of the book "the open wounds of South America" by Galeano. Excellent record from a brilliant band. Lyrix are dealing with the history of South America in general and the situation of Venezuela today. Cover and booklet are nicely put together and all lyrix and comments are translated in english - Highly recommended!]

Fallas Del Sistema from Mexico are more midtempo based with downtuned guitars. Aggressive and desperate. Lyrix getting delivered by 2 singers, who shout out their anger and rage. The record is wrapped into a beautiful designed fold out poster. Lyrix are translated into english.
