Alessandro Safina nasce a Siena e giovanissimo intraprende gli studi musicali. Successivamente inizia gli studi del canto al Conservatorio di Musica 'Luigi Cherubini' di Firenze. Nel 1989 vince il primo premio al Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Mantova. Inizia così una brillante carriera nel mondo dell'opera.
Nel 1990 debutta nel ruolo di protagonista nella 'Bohème' di Giacomo Puccini al fianco di Katia Ricciarelli. Sempre con la Ricciarelli svolge una intensa attività concertistica nelle sale più prestigiose del mondo come la Barbicane Hall di Londra e L'Olympia a Parigi. Seguono altri successi in diversi prestigiosi teatri italiani e europei: 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' di Paisiello al Teatro Bibiena di Mantova, 'I Capuleti e Montecchi' a Basilea, 'L'Elisir D'Amore' a Strasburgo, 'Il Barbiere Di Siviglia' di Gioacchino Rossini a Marsiglia e 'Rusalka' al Festival Internazionale di Wexford in Irlanda.
Alessandro esegue molto repertorio sacro, come 'La Messa di Gounod' alla Basilica di Saint Denis con Barbara Hendricks, 'La Messa di Gloria' di Puccini diretta da Claudio Scimone e 'La Petite Messe Solennelle' di Rossini sempre al fianco di Katia Ricciarelli.
Si cimenta anche con l’operetta al Teatro Verdi di Trieste con 'Sissi', 'Rose Marie' e 'La Vedova Allegra'; al Teatro Massimo di Palermo con 'Orfeo All'Inferno' e ancora 'La Vedova Allegra' al Teatro Brancaccio a Roma con Cecilia Gasdia e Leo Gullotta. Grande successo riscuote anche la sua partecipazione nel ruolo di Vladimir Lenski nell'opera 'Eugenio Onieghin' con Mirella Freni al Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
La carriera di Alessandro Safina vive una nuova fase con l’incisione di un album di canzoni pop edito da Universal Music. Da qui l'affermazione in tutto il mondo con questo nuovo genere. Il disco 'INSIEME A TE' ('Junto A Ti' / 'Alessandro Safina') è pubblicato in 40 paesi e grande rilievo è il concerto prodotto dalla televisione americana PBS al Teatro Greco di Taormina di cui è stato effettuato il dvd 'Live In Italy "Only You"', venduto e apprezzato in molti paesi tra cui gli USA, il Canada, il Brasile, la Corea e molti paesi europei. Nel dicembre 2000 partecipa al tour “Night of the Proms” insieme a Howard Jones, Pretenders e UB40, raccogliendo uno straordinario successo, con il risultato che il singolo “Luna” conquista le prime posizioni delle classifiche olandesi per ben 14 settimane.
Nel 2001 partecipa alla colonna sonora del fortunatissimo "Moulin Rouge" incidendo un brano con Ewan Mc Gregor, mentre nel 2002 raggiunge le vette delle classifiche britanniche duettando con Elton John in "Your Song".
Si esibisce a New York al Radio City Hall e a Londra in presenza della regina Elisabetta in un concerto al fianco di artisti come Elton John, Cher, Jennifer Lopez, e a Montecarlo come ospite del principe Ranieri. E' a Seoul per il concerto inaugurale dei Mondiali di Calcio 2002 diretto dal Maestro Chung e con la partecipazione di Sumi Jo, ai quali seguono concerti in Brasile, in Canada, in Olanda e in altre parti del mondo.
Nel 2002 partecipa al Festival di Sanremo con la canzone 'Del Perduto Amore' e subito dopo incide un nuovo album 'MUSICA DI TE' prodotto dalla BMG Ricordi. Nel frattempo duetta in 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore' con Rod Stewart. Ai primi di novembre di 2006 registra il duetto 'Un Ricordo-Je Crois Entendre Encore' per l’album 'Eternal' di Miriam Stockley, pubblicato in America, Gran Bretagna, Sud Africa e Giappone.
Il suo terzo album 'SOGNAMI', è uscito nell'aprile 2007, con la produzione di Alex Christensen. Nel gennaio 2008 ha inciso un duetto con Sarah Brightman e ha partecipato a Vienna alla registrazione del video 'Symphony' al fianco della Brightman. Nell'ultimo periodo si è esibito in molti paesi tra cui Brasile, Corea, Israele, Olanda, Romania, Turchia, Stati Uniti, Messico, Grecia, eccetera. Inoltre ha partecipato al tour in Asia di Sarah Brightman come 'special guest'. Attualmente sta lavorando al nuovo album che uscirà nel febbraio 2010.

The Italian tenor Alessandro Safina – born in Siena in 1963 – discovers his passion for singing at a very early age: in fact he’s only nine years old when he starts studying music. His passion for opera is transmitted by his parents and when he is 17 he applies at the well-established Conservatorio di Musica 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence, obtaining several leading roles in famous operas all over Europe: ‘Rodolfo’ in Giacomo Puccini’s ‘La Bohème’ (his big breakthrough in 1990) and ‘Vladimir Lenski’ in Tsjaykovski’s ‘Eugène Onegin’ are only two examples. He is praised everywhere for the depth of his voice and his style.
Alessandro is influenced not only by classical music, but also by good pop music like U2, Genesis, Depeche Mode and The Clash. He feels the urge to combine the two music worlds and to bring classical music closer to the people. His first pop opera album is released in 2000 and launched with a gig at the famous ‘l’Olympia’ theatre in Paris. His definitive breakthrough happens in the Netherlands in November 2000, where he performs in ‘The Night Of The Proms’ together with Howard Jones, The Pretenders and UB40. With his single ‘Luna’ he builds a bridge between classical music and pop; the song stays number 1 for 14 weeks.
His debut album ‘INSIEME A TE’ sells like hot cakes in the Netherlands and becomes 4 times platinum within a few months. The cd is released in 38 countries and sells more than a million copies. Besides The Netherlands, Safina wins a large audience also in Brazil and Korea, where he performs as a guest during concerts of Barbara Hendricks and Sumi Jo.
In 2001 Alessandro also features in the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s successful movie ‘Moulin Rouge’, where he duets with Ewan McGregor. In 2002 he premiers 'Del Perduto Amore' at the Sanremo Festival, Italy’s greatest tv music event. He also records a duet with Elton John: ‘Your song’ is released and conquers the top positions of the British charts. In May he is on stage in Rome and plays the part of ‘Danilo Danilowitsch’ in ‘La Vedova Allegra’. In august Alessandro receives, as a worldwide ambassador of the Italian ‘musica lyrica’, the Mario Lanza trophy.
In 2003 he features on Rod Stewart’s album ‘As Time Goes By’, and in september ‘MUSICA DI TE’ is released, another big hit in Holland and Germany, and is followed by two years of concerts in large arenas around the globe. In 2006 he performs with Ferhat Goçer in Istanbul and is ‘Count Tassilo’ in the operetta ’La Contessa Mariza’, for which he receives a silver medal from the international association of operetta. He also performs two sold-out gigs with Amii Stewart. In December he features on the ‘Eternal’, the new album of Miriam Stockley, singing in 'Un Ricordo-Je Crois Entendre Encore'. The album is released in the Usa, Uk, South Africa and Japan.
Alessandro's third album 'SOGNAMI' was released in april 2007.
2008 is the year of fab duets with Sarah Brightman. After many concerts all over the world, Alessandro started 2009 by working on a new album, that will be released in February 2010. He just came back from a long and very successful tour of 21 concerts in seven Asian countries featuring as Sarah Brightman’s special guest and another short tour in The Netherlands.
