ALEV @ Zeytinli Rock Fest Edremit/Turkey - 14.August 2008
ALEV is translated as "flame" in the Turkish language- and accordingly so, as the band's live show and studio recordings are quite literally, "on fire" with sonic flames that turn the common conventional styles of other bands into nothing more than smoke.
ALEVs music ranges from Modern Rock, to Alternative Metal while the band's sound is best described as a musical cross between Evanescence and Garbage. Strong female-fronted rock/metal with emotionally intelligent music and hooks capture the listeners attention and easily keep the songs repeating in their heads, long after they turn off the CD player.
Still before their first album ‚We Live in Paradise’ (SAD Music) was to be released, the band had played up a strom on the Jägermeister Rockliga and appeared on german TV channels like SAT1 and RTL. Shortly after, ALEV signed a record deal with Hammer Müzik in Turkey and a promotion tour through the popular turkish TV channels followed. A highlight of their tour was playing as co-headliner of Slayer at the ‚Rock Republic Open Air’ in Istanbul. Furthermore ALEV signed on with a US label Eclipse Records (Mushroomhead, Scum of the Earth), furthermore reaching out on to international waters.
In 2006 the band ALEV announces a new line-up. The new leadsinger Alex Janzen convinces the existing fanbase with her charisma and powerful and distinctive vocals. Alex, the lead singer, singing both powerful rock anthems as well as soft, ballad-like songs with her distinctive voice a voice with an individual touch and an incredible emotional expressiveness that can also be found in the entire band. Catchy refrains, powerful guitar riffs, diversified harmonies, and arrangements beyond conventional summons a wild, youthful, and refreshing mélange full of energy and persuasiveness.
The band is homogeneous which they undoubtedly proved on their China Tour in 2006. They rocked numerous Chinese clubs and as a finishing touch to their successful tour, they played as headliner on the Midi-Festival in Peking infront of 20.000 people. Following the Chinatour ALEV toured in Turkey with concerts in Istanbul and Ankara, playing live on renowned tv- and radio shows that just added to their already existant fanbase and popularity in Turkey.
Presently ALEV are signed to Fastball Music/Sony BMG and released their latest self-titled album „ALEV“ in May 2008, which was released simultaneously in Turkey. The follow-up ‚Institutionalized Tour 2008’ through Germany was a huge success. In August 2008 ALEV played as co-headliner at the ‚Zeytinli Rock Fest’ in Turkey infront of 30.000 people.
Alevs music is a tightrope walk, switching from raging, heavy guitar riffs to softer tones while lyrically aiming right for the heart. Combined with Alexs magical attraction, their diversified and emotional live show makes for a truly unique mixture.
ALEV bedeutet "Flamme". Das Türkische Wort steht für den energiegeladenen und ehrlichen Sound dieser Band, roh und zerbrechlich, zügellos und melancholisch zugleich: Alternative Metal mit emotionsgeladenen Vocals jenseits effekthaschender Modetrends.

Der Name der Band steht für den Weg, den die Münchener mit absoluter Entschlossenheit einschlagen. Ohne große Unterstützung spielten sich ALEV von kleinen Clubs auf die großen Festivals bis in die deutschen Alternative Charts. Erst dann folgte der lang ersehnte Plattenvertrag mit SAD Music.
Ihre stetig wachsende Fanbase und die enorme Präsenz an Live-Auftritten überzeugte nicht nur das Label. Mehrere Tausend verkaufte Demo-CDs, bis zu 70 Konzerte pro Jahr in ganz Europa – das alles schaffte hat die Band aus eigener Kraft.
Noch vor ihrem Debüt-Album "We Live In Paradise" (Released: 2004/2005), welches hervorragende Kritiken bringen sollte, machte die Band bereits von sich reden. So wurde sie 2004 in die Jägermeister Rockliga berufen und selbst TV-Sender wie Sat1 und RTL wurden auf ALEV aufmerksam und brachten in ihren Sendungen einen Bericht über den frischen Sound der Band. Kurz drauf interessierte sich auch das Ausland für ALEV und 2005 unterschrieb die Band, in der Türkei, einen Plattenvertrag bei Hammermüzik. Im Anschluss folgte eine Promotion-Tour durch die türkischen TV-Sender. Highlight des Türkeitrips sollte jedoch ihre Rolle als Co-Headliner zusammen mit „Slayer“ und „To Die For“ auf dem „Rock Republic Open Air“, Istanbul sein. Auch die USA zeigten großes Interesse an ALEV. Dort fand die Band mit Eclipse Records ein Label, bei dem auch „Mushroomhead“ groß wurde und „Scum of the Earth“ zu Hause ist. Bei Eclipse Records ist man sich sicher, mit ALEV die richtige Formation für den Geschmack des US-Rockpublikums an Land gezogen zu haben.
2006 meldet sich die Band, nach einigen Umbesetzungen, mit neuem Line-up erfolgreich zurück. Die 24-jährige Frontfrau Alex Janzen begeistert die eingefleischte Fangemeinde durch Charisma und ihre kraftvolle und unverwechselbare Stimme. Die Band wirkt homogener, was sie live auf ihrer China-Tournee 2006 eindrucksvoll unter Beweis stellt. Sie rocken in etlichen chinesischen Clubs und als Lohn winkt die Rolle des Headliners auf dem Midi-Festival in Peking, wo 20.000 Menschen kein Halten mehr kennen. Die anschließende Türkei-Tour 2006 mit Konzerten u.a. in Istanbul und Ankara, Live-Auftritten in TV- und Radioshows erhöhen ihren Bekanntheitsgrad. Das neue Album „ALEV“, erschienen im Mai 2008 bei Fastball Music/SonyBMG, bekommt überall gute Kritiken. Die Single „Crawling Under“ kommt in die Deutschen Alternative Charts (DAT20) und auch die Institutionalized Tour 2008 ist ein großer Erfolg. Das Album erscheint parallel in der Türkei, ALEV trat dort im August auf einem der größten Open-Air-Festivals vor 30.000 Zuschauern als Co- Headliner auf. In den USA und Russland steht das Album kurz vor der Veröffentlichung.
