Alex & I.x
UPDATE. Dec 07.
These days it seems the ever increasing gap between the United States and the rest of the world is providing problems for Alex & I. Colin is from the UK and although you would think it easy enough for a UK citizen to come and go as he pleases, this is not the case.
So, doing the best that they can, Alex and Gil have been playing shows in the US under the name Alex & I and Colin has been playing the UK under the same name with the help of some great musicians. and they get together when they can (like now) to lock themselves away in the recording studio and write some beautiful music.
Colin and Alex arriving in NewYork for a show
NEWS:
Alex and Colin met in the summer of 2005 whilst working at French Woods Festival of Performing Arts in NewYork. As they became friends the two would sit outside their cabin and pass a guitar back and forth playing songs for anyone who wanted to listen. Adoration for most of the same artists and a mutual admiration for each other’s songwriting and performing talents resulted in Colin and Alex taking to the recording studio and recording a demo to see how they would sound together on tape. With the help of Alex’s younger brother Adam, three songs were recorded; ’Minds’ ’Indevisable’ and the first ever recording of ’Stop Signs’.
The two guys spent a grand total of 2 and a half weeks working together on music in 2005. This was a rediculously short period of time for artists to settle together but it seemed to click instantly with Colin and Alex and it was enough to cement a foundation.
June of 2006 saw the pair reuninted in Philadelphia where a songwriting and performing frenzy ensued! The pair played in various bars and clubs around the Philadelphia acoustic scene. Everywhere they went, they took with them ; 2 Guitars, Xylophone, Shaker, Djembe, blissful harmonies and a passion for the music that they played, which was felt in every venue that the guys hit.
