  • Bio

Alexandria has a range and flexibility which allow her to cross genres, from Opera to Pop, with consummate ease, a stunning stage presence and an emotional intensity which makes each song she performs uniquely her own. A professional musician since the age of 16, this former army corporal served in the Canadian Military for eight years. At the same time as joining the Canadian Forces, she began her singing career after being discovered in a local choir, leading her to obtain a diploma in Classical Voice from Vancouver Community College School of Music and a degree in Opera from the University of British Columbia. Alexandria traveled throughout Europe and Canada, singing major roles in both Operas and Operettas, as well as on the concert stage. Alexandria launched her Classical Crossover singing career at Harrods, London's premier luxury department store, and released her first album in 2008 entitled 'The Harrods Opera Collection', which sells in the UK and online. She has featured at many prestigious live events worldwide, at venues ranging from 'intimate' to stadiums holding 60,000 people. Alexandria has performed for the Crown Prince of Dubai, Jordanian Royalty, Prime Ministers and Premiers. She opened the famous Harrods Winter Sale in 2007, and opened and closed Canada Day celebrations in London's Trafalgar Square in both 2007 and 2009, sparking her relationship with CBC Radio. In 2011, Alexandria performed with Randy Bachman at the Calgary Stampede, and recently sang the national anthem at an NHL game in Ottawa. She has also performed on stage with Andrea Bocelli, Paul Potts and Hayley Westenra. In 2008 Alexandria was flown in as a special guest to open the first Vancouver 2010 Olympic Venue – The Richmond Oval. Her performance was featured live on CTV and she was interviewed on Shaw TV's 'Urban Rush' and CBC's 'On The Coast'. She subsequently sang at the 2009 launch of the 'Countdown to the Vancouver Olympics' in the UK. Alexandria believes in giving back. In 2008 she shared the stage with Jackie Chan for China's Earthquake Appeal at The Great Hall of People. That same year, she showed her support of Canadian Troops at the Remembrance Day Service in the UK – leading her to be featured on CBC's Newsworld. Since then she has continued to support the Troops, performing for Canadian Armed Forces Day events in the UK, the 2010 'Ride For Dad' fundraiser in Victoria BC and the Support Our Troops Gala in Regina. In 2011, she was the guest artist at 'Le Concert Sous Les Étoiles' at the Agora in Québec City, raising funds for the R22eR regimental museum. Alexandria has received admirable media coverage from around the world, being featured on TV, Radio and in Print in such countries as Canada, USA, UK, Netherlands, Cuba and China. She has been interviewed on CBC several times, as well as on China's CCTV9 alongside former Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed, viewed by audiences of up to 45 million people. Her image was used in advertisements for the Vancouver Olympics and Harrods. In 2011 Alexandria was the cover of the May edition of AT – a trendy American Arts and Culture Magazine. After being based in London UK for 5 years, Alexandria has returned to her native Canada to work on her latest album. Joined by fellow vocal artists Alan Frew, Luke McMaster and Mark Masri, this album is not only a unique tribute to the members of Canada's military community, but offers something for all Canadians, and showcases her full crossover into Pop. Produced by five time Juno award winner Sam Reid of Canada's own Glass Tiger, Alexandria's new music project, featuring select musicians of various Canadian Forces bands, will be marketed under the official banner of Canada's Yellow Ribbon Support Our Troops program. Alexandria Beck and Grammy award winner Giles Martin (Cirque du Soleil's Beatles show LOVE) wrote a song specifically for this album, due to be released May 29th, 2012. Whilst waiting for the release of this charity album Alexandria is busy working behind the scenes on her next endeavour – her solo debut and culmination of her love of music, art and theatrics. "...as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." – Nelson Mandela
