Writing. Reading. Playing the violin (badly...do I get an "A" for effort?). Gourmet food. Good Napa Valley wine. Constructing a Japanese tea garden in my backyard. Gardening. The wine grapes will be sensational this summer! I've rat(I mean squirrel) proofed my strawberry patch. There's nothing more sensuous than a home grown monster tomato. This summer I plan to can more of the monster tomatoes and send them to my son (and daughter, if she can figure out how to make spaghetti sauce in her dorm room).
Music
Movies
Blues Brothers. Joy Luck Club. Imitation of Life. Mr. Holland's Opus. Amadeus. Impromptu. Immortal Beloved. These I could see over and over. I like indie flicks and documentaries like "Speaking in Strings"
Television
Who has time for anything but Forensics Files? The news is bad and negative. Don't watch the news.
Books
Kahlil Gibran. Jeffrey Gitomer. The History of the Bahamas was good. Trashy romance novels are good when you're stuck on a plane to San Francisco.
Heroes
Fanny Mendelssohn. She was truly great, but overshadowed by a famous brother.
I'm getting serious about writing. I'm rounding the bend on 50K words in my chick-lit novel, and already have 26 chapters on the coming-of-age novel. A word to my friends and relatives: NONE of my novels are about YOU. So please don't ask me about it. My take will be to deny, deny, deny.
Who I'd like to meet: My Japanese relatives.
My Greek relatives.
Actually, going to Japan and Greece to dig up relations would be really cool.
On New Year's Day and the whole year through, I hope the kindness you've given to others returns many times to you. May hope, love, and warmth be in your heart's possessing, and may the New Year bring you and yours many blessings.
Hi Joanne-- Congratulations on nearing your goal! Thanks for befriending me and Paint It Black! Hope you like it. Wish you continued good writing and many delights, Janet F.
No worries! I hope you have a nice trip to SF. (No facebook for me... i can only handle one of these sites and myspace is my pick). ;p keep on truckin' sister.
Love the Joni Mitchell song. I've got Joni up on my myspace right now too. I know you never log in, but I'm leaving you another message anyway. Your friend, Dee Dub. :)
Yes, that's my inner me. Freaked out. Kids always live the damn high life. That's why they don't get it until they grow up, get married and have kids of their own. LA is far away!!!!! I'd be losing my mind. (which you know, is quite easy for me to do)
Summer went really well, but it's good to have the kids back at school. They were getting bored and I was losing patience. :) Not really - we had a fun summer. I'm glad fall is in the air though. 90F temps are not for me at all. I love sweater weather. Are you having empty nest syndrome or are you good?
What have you been doing all summer? My kids went back to school today, so I'm really enjoying a quiet morning with my coffee and myspace. It was good to hear from you.
Thanks Joanne! I hope you are well. I'm sorry I have not been around much lately. I'm kinda in a funk. The weather is not cooperating like it should this time of year. I need vitamin D desperately. I'm thinking it's not much better where you are either. I hope your holiday weekend is nice, too! Thanks for stopping by :)
