Anyway, my name is Alex. I
am a singer songwriter from Edinburgh. This is what the PR people
say:
"Alex Cornish’s debut
album ‘Until The Traffic Stops’ - written, played, sung and produced in
his Edinburgh bedroom by the self-confessed “complete fcking control
freak” – has provoked the kind of tips and plays that any major-label
release would beg for. Sessions for Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary), 6 Music,
XFM Scotland, a song played over the end credits of a Hollywood film and
The Sunday Times' “hottest download of the week” – this is a special
record, made all the more remarkable for it’s DIY beginnings. Now,
encouraged by the reaction to the album’s initial low-key release, and
with a team of like-minded music industry supporters on-board, ‘Until
The Traffic Stops’ has been re-released"
This is what the press have said about my album:
"...a beautifully orchestrated album of rich, dark,
ethereal singer-songwriting that evokes the 21st century
soundscapes of Radiohead"-
Neil McCormick, The Telegraph
"spooked 4am strings and monster choruses" - The Times
"From the sweeping opener to the gorgeous "This One's for
You" and "Lights On" it's a rich and rewarding ride"
- OK! Magazine
"Cornish deserves his burgeoning acclaim" - The
Scotsman
"Until the Traffic Stops deserves not only the accolades
it has had so far, but to be discovered by a much wider audience" -
Verve Magazine
"A DIY gem" - Blah Blah Magazine
"It is only a matter of when, rather than if, he becomes a
major star" - Classic Rock Magazine
My recent single My Word What a Mess
has just spent 5 weeks on the Radio 2 Playlist. From an Edinburgh
bedroom to Wogan - I kid you not. My previous single,
the title track from the album, was single of the week on the Radcliffe and Maconie show on Radio 2: "Gorgeous"
said Mark Radcliffe.
It was played on the Dermot O' Leary show on Radio 2 a lot. BBC Radio Scotland (Tom Morton), Radio 1 (Vic Galloway's show), XFM Scotland (Jim Gellatly), Leith FM (Graeme Scott) and Northsound have also all given it a few spins. It was "Record of the Day" in, er, "Record of the Day" and Music Week did a little thing on it too. It was the Skinny's
"Single of the Month". There are reviews all over the place if you
are guided by that sort of stuff...I have also done sessions for Radio
2, Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM. Anyway, drop me a message. I like myspace.
This summer sees me playing a load of festivals then at the end of the
year on the road again. Watch out for tickets....
For contact, here are the
details, but I read and email on myspace everyday so send me a message
and I'll get back to you. Or, if you want to be really official try my
management:

Hi Alex, my other daughter saw the comment you left me about her sister and has been dying for me to tell you that she plays keyboard and did a little concert at school, very pleased with herself! And big sister has actually got a bit more positive towards her violin, so thanks! :)
Hi Alex, was listening to your beautiful album again earlier, I wish it would inspire my daughter to put more effort into her violin playing. I played piano as a child but gave it up which I now regret. :( Playing an instument isn't like riding a bike is it, you have to keep at it. Ah..., rant over! ;)
