bio
alex comes originally from a very small and remote town in the austrian alps, where kids naturally are born with a pair of skies on their little feet, where he received accordeon lessons from his father at the tender age of four. after a major detour later on through classical basson studies and chamber music work he moved with his parents into the lovely southern part of styria, sourounded by vinyards, smooth erotic hills and a much broader and wider view to the horizon and to life in general. thats where he picked up piano lessons until finally, against all ods, locking with his premier instrument of choice and love: the drums (performance master at the university of music in graz/austria in 1985 and a scholarship to berklee college of music in boston/usa).
still being a student at the college in graz, alex became a well known and high in demand sideman as a drummer with an impressive number of international jazzstars touring europe and recording a large and growing number of international album releases such as the legendary trumpetplayers WOODY SHAW and FREDDIE HUBBARD, just to name a view.
in 1987 alex moves to the united states for 8 consecutive, exciting and rewarding years. after having established himself on the nyc music scene as a very unique and exiting new voice in town, he founded his international power trio PINK INC. (pink inc./diw and keys to the kastle /sweeca/ponycanon). especially during his last 5 years in new york city he got heavily in touch with artists from the so called nyc underground & hiphop (arrested development), which culminates in a three week tour with GEORGE CLINTON AND PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC. that was also the time, when alex started to become a successful producer, combinig all his know how, experience, vision, expertise, integrity and spirit of a well rounded and yet diverse musical personality.
after returning to good old europe aleX was the musical director and mastermind of a very unique workshop and festival called "JUNK", where young and rising european musicians got a chance to work and perform with pros and stars from NYC .
from 1995 til 2002 aleX was teaching a drum masterclass @ the university of music and performing arts in graz austria. most of his students finished their studies summa cum laude and all of them are working as high in demand drummers and musicians all over the world up to this day .
for 5 years aleX ran together with dj shalom and another bunch of wicked enthusiasts the independent music label MOUTH TO MOUTH, being both creative director and main producer, working in the field of artist and label development. besides having been mastermind, drummer and producer for the internationally very successful band CAFE DRECHSLER (amadeus 2005 for the album "RADIO SNACKS")
aleX also works as an independent producer, also in cooperation with his programmer don summer under the name FAKE FELLINI , C.L.ATTERSEE, clubtoaster, HOTEL TRIEST, superherorockstar as well as remixer for mps/hans koller, der junge mit der gitarre, STEFAN REMMLER, fleisch magazine, 7th district, universal, sony, warner, vienna scientists, edel...

alex is involved in a large and growing number of international music ventures and projects including WWW.BERLINMEETSWIEN.COM with his partner KEN JEBSEN from FRITZ RADIO BERLIN, where people rely on his relentless drumming, his tasteful and congenious style as a producer, his know how and unique way of doing his job as artistic & musical director or internationally experienced consultant. his initiated clubnights "DJAM", "GELEE ROYAL" and most recently "D.E.R. CLUB SANDWICH" quickly became cult and his former international musiworkshops "JUNK" show his expertise both as a teacher and as an open mind for youth and youth culture.
in 2006 aleX was honored and rewarded the HANS KOLLER PREIS as MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR in austria
