The Alex Dingley Band is a 4 piece who were born in the same hospital, grew up in the same town, went to the same school, studied at the same polytechnic, and who worked together on the top floor of the same crummy office block before the smoking ban and a stormy night brought them together beneath the same window ledge outside a night club in Cardiff central. Although Jinx and Swci don't smoke they enjoy the camaraderie that perfect strangers can find beneath a dripping lentil. Nigel has since given up but still yearns for the death stick.Alex has pretended to quit as an early April fools joke. They now live and play together in the South Wales area and are presently gigging the album 'I Lost My Honey In The Grass'.

Er.....I should hope that its everything I'v ever heard, seen, done, smelt, tasted, touched, loved, hated........every sensibility my parents passed on to me......every time I'v tried to be cool and felt guilty for it.....every fucking dire boy band.......everytime somebody's pushed in front of me in a queue, trying to spell queue, cue , que??... every bank manager who's told me I'v got no credit.....every time
I'V LOST MY WALLET.....every girl who's knocked me back, every girl who hasn't, every girl who I never even asked..............getting up in the morning still pissed......cracking night but can't remember much of it.......daytime television....good luck, bad luck, the unknown.......the existance of God....no God....multiple gods.....er fate, fairy tales, power cuts, toxic waste, global warming, how people can be so rubbish, how people can be amazing, how some people can twist your atoms so that they buzz around the room with happiness...........getting lost without a mobile phone, fear of terminal diseases, not wanting to die by accident.......er.....the end of the world....getting into milk cartons.....green milk Ughhhhh! Long car journeys, the sea side, getting all my sunshine and vitamins, five pieces of fruit a day!! What does that mean? Do five grapes count or do you have to go for big fruit.I'v only eaten two bananna's in my whole life gospel truth! Gospel!! Unrequainted love.....unrealistic dreams peddled by hollywood. Every story has a happy ending, love is easy, celebities know best, celebrities look best, everbody should look like a celebrity, bow down to the god of the silver screen! How much longer can we possibly believe this crap?.......humiliation, FEAR of humiliation, pride, shyness, vanity, vanity guilt, jealousy, PANIC!!! sadness, exitement, SCANDAL, gossip, not ever wanting to come over as a twat, giving money to beggers and worrying for the rest of the day that they've spent it all on crack, nostagia, the golden past, black and white photo's, the colour blue, the colour green, climbing trees, falling out of trees, the first time I stayed up past midnight, fear of getting old.........although every time I wake up in the morning I'v changed my mind about someone or something and I wish that I could only remember what I was dreaming about!
Sounds Like
A monkey with salt in his eye........er.......two packets of crisps fighting.........a rubber tree falling in a concrete forrest.
Alex Dingley found his first guitar amounst the sea weed, driftwood and dead jelly fish on Llansteffan beach. Amazingly, after clearing away the crustation and milldew it was still perfectly in tune, though salty in tone.Alex de-tuned it and decided that he liked it much better.
"I Lost My Honey In The Grass" was recorded under the dying sun of 2006 and the new moon of 2007. As we searched the hill tops of North Wales for a feeling we did not know we'd lost we found a forgotten land that the glaciers made, both below a mountain and atop the world where the jagged hill tops spit and fondle the sky like breaking waves in a frozen storm, threatening to meet and to block out the light completely.
The ship was cunningly hidden, its masts inconspicuose amoungst the crosses of the tomb stones and in the hull we made camp, lit a fire, ate buttered bread and sardines from the tin, told far fetched stories and attempted to convey to one another just how confused we actually are.
Much more predictable is the quality and creative genius of the musicians of Wales. Which is why I'm lucky enough to present a 3hr show fabricated from the finest new music that Wales has to offer. Well, the finest new music that Wales has to offer that gets sent to me.
If you have some damn fine new Welsh music and you're Welsh, or live in Wales, there is the small matter of the Demo of the Week to vie for:
Please include a contact telephone number that you will be on at 9:30pm *tonight* and a short bio.
If you have a gig to plug, some news to share, or -- indeed -- any other correspondence, you can mail it to the same address.
*Tonight* we will be hearing from Rebecca Hot Puppy... she's going to remind us about their splendid new single, 'Somewhere', and tell us exactly what is happening to the Hot Puppies whilst she takes a sabbatical to have a baby. Soundhog might look pregnant, but the only babies he's concerned with are the ones that belong to his incredibly extensive and well-arranged record collection. Huw Williams is in again to tell us about Welsh music past. *AND* The Kaptin will be coming aboard to tell us about Roxe Jam, a free weekend of hip hop culture in Cardiff on the weekend July 26 - July 27th.
Should be a good one!
You can text me *during the show* on: 07786 20 10 40
