Smallville records vous propose ce soir un aller simple à destination de Detroit en invitant Omar S, nouveau prince de la ville la plus influante de l' histoire de la techno. Alex 'Omar S' Smith est un des rares artistes continuant à représenter et faire vivre la vraie âme de la techno de Detroit à travers ses productions et ses djsets. Alex est dès son plus jeune âge immergé dans la scène house et techno de Detroit et Chicago et commence sa carrière de dj en 1993 aux côtés de Joe Claussel dans un de ses premiers clubs de Manhattan. En 2001, Alex sort son premier test pressing à 70 exemplaires sur son propre label FXHE records. Encouragé par Theo Parrish impressioné par le premier maxi, Alex sort son second Ep en 2003 dont les ventes explosent rapidement grâce aux hits underground et déjà classiques « U(instrumental) » et « Miss You ». A partir du troisième Ep le label FXHE est distribué également en Europe où il connait un succès instantané. Omar S a depuis produit plusieurs maxis et albums où l' on retrouve son style unique et inimitable. Ses influences en tant que compositeur se retrouvent également dans ses sets mêlant deep house, rare disco, soulful tech funk ainsi que ses propres productions, dévoilant au public le nouveau son de Détroit dont seuls lui, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Theo Parrish, ou peu d' autres possèdent le secret.
