Octogon aka Kool Keith, the Beastie Boys, and last but not least John Williams, composer, conductor (one of my favorites to have had the pleasure of meeting and singing for at Tanglewood.)
Alex's professional background in music began at a young age (12) when he toured, performed, and recorded with the American Boychoir. Recordings included, HYMN, BY REQUEST, (ANGEL EMI records) film score vocals for INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, and solo vocals for Joe Jackson.
Concerts spanned the globe, but included such domestic hotspots as Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, Carnegie Hall, and Lincon Center.
The group had an 'academic' emphasis on vocal techniques, as well as music theory and composition.
Composition quickly became a primary interest over performing choral music as He went through high school and college. While still wholeheartedly performing- composition was more FUN to him.
Alex had traditionally composed for projects in a less-stand-alone, and more documentary styled manner. This had been done recreationally in High School, and later in Burlington Vt. at the University of Vermont Television Station.
Now Alex's style could be described as being decidedly eclectic and electronic. Alex still uses vocals in his music, and has been using keyboards as a composition medium since he was very young. Although songs or a bass line can begin as a thought the keyboard is where it enters the corporeal world.
