"Alex Grossi is the most gifted young guitar player I have heard since the first time I heard Randy Rhoads in 1975"--
Kevin Dubrow, QUIET RIOT
In only a few short years ALEX GROSSI is becoming one of the hardest working guitarists in the country. In 1999 he inked his first recording deal with ATLANTIC RECORDS with the Boston-based pop rock band ANGRY SALAD. In support of the record Alex and Angry Salad did over 1000 shows across the country, recorded music for the QUINCY JONES produced movie "The Smokers", did multiple television appearances as well as recording the theme song for the WB NETWORK drama series "DC".
In 2001 when the AOL/TIME-WARNER merger cost the band their deal, Alex packed up and headed to Hollywood where within weeks he signed on with TVT Recording Artists IGNITE to do 2 world tours. Upon returning from the tour, Alex was chosen by ELEKTRA RECORDS out of over 75 L.A. area guitarists to be the musical director for one of their new artists AIMEE ALLEN. The band toured and
recorded for the better part of 2002.
In early 2003 Alex joined up with Hollywood rockers BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, fronted by BANG TANGO vocalist JOE LESTE. Shortly thereafter, Alex and BC began writing and recording BC's second record "DEUCE" for JVC RECORDS (Japan) and SPITFIRE/BMG (U.S.). In between working on that, Alex and Joe also wrote and recorded a new BANG TANGO record entitled "READY TO GO" for Mike Varney's SHRAPNEL RECORDS Label. Alex was also asked to appear in a film documenting the Rhode Island nightclub fire by the LIFETIME network which aired in 2004.
In June of 2004 Alex was contacted by QUIET RIOT front man KEVIN DUBROW to participate in the first annual "BAD BOYS OF METAL TOUR" which featured Kevin,
as well as JANI LANE of WARRANT, STEVEN ADLER of GUNS-N-ROSES and BANG TANGO. "Everyone said I was crazy" said Alex "I had to learn 40-plus songs and play for over 3 hours a night but it was an amazing experience, both musically and personally. Guns and Roses "Appetite for Destruction" was the first record I ever bought, Randy Rhoads (founding member of Quiet Riot) is one of my
all time favorite guitarists, and I always liked Warrant. On this tour I got to work with the guys who were a part of my musical upbringing---it was pretty
crazy and great fun". Immediately following the "Bad Boy's Tour", IGNITE Recruited Alex for an extensive tour which saw the band covering the U.S, Canada, Europe, South America and Australia.
In late 2004 Alex was offered the guitar position in QUIET RIOT, he played his first QR date on New years Eve 2004, and has since written and toured with the band full time in 2005, Including 75 dates with the "ROCK NEVER STOPS" tour which also featured CINDERELLA, RATT and FIREHOUSE.
2006 was a very busy year for Alex as well. Throughout the year he toured extensively, including a European Tour with LOVE/HATE, as well as numerous QUIET RIOT and HOOKERS-N-BLOW tours. Alex also performed on several European tribute albums including "It's So Easy: A
MILLENNIUM TRIBUTE TO GUNS N' ROSES" as well as playing lead on Ex-MOTLEY CRUE frontman JOHN CORABI's remake of the Crue classic "HOME SWEET HOME".
In 2007, in addition to steady touring with QUIET RIOT which included the SWEDEN ROCK festival, a performance at the first-annual "ROCKLAHOMA" and a U.S. tour with VINCE NEIL, Alex put together the blueprints for his very own "SCHOOL OF ROCK" which is slated to open in spring 2008.
"I feel really lucky to be able to do this for a living" says Alex, "I can't imagine doing anything else!"

Historic Ballroom "The Hub" Burns Posted 10:21 CDT on Wednesday Jun 24, 2009 | Zach Christman
EDELSTEIN, Ill. (AP) -- A more than 70-year-old central Illinois ballroom where Duke Ellington and Lawrence Welk played has been destroyed by fire.
The Hub ballroom burned to the ground early Wednesday in Edelstein, which is about 15 miles north of Peoria.
Authorities say the fire started about 2:45 a.m. They don't yet know what caused the fire.
The Hub was built in 1938 by the owner of the Potter Implement Co. to show off the farm equipment he sold. But he changed his plans after an opening day dance drew a big crowd.
In its prime, the Hub hosted big-name acts such as Glen Miller, Jerry Lee Lewis and Benny Goodman
