‘A voice with both fragility and confidence, a songwriter with enormous depth and variety.’
- John Carver, Presenter Across The Tracks, PBSfm
‘The most impressive feature of The Turning Wheel is the effortlessness in which Hallahan explores the folk and roots genre - done so with a maturity and even flow that allows his material to sway along, free from any musical or production overkill. It’s simply a man, his beard, vocal and guitar whispering in the dark…’
- Nick Argyriou, Reviewer Rhythms Magazine
‘An album that in style and sound is contemporary, and at the same time reminiscent of the great singer songwriters.’
- Neil Rogers, Presenter The Australian Mood 3RRR 102.7fm
''From opening track through to final Alex shows a great musical maturity and insight...'
- Tony Bates, Presenter 100.7 Highlands fm
We thank you for your huge support of this album!...
Melbourne based artist Alex Hallahan released his acclaimed debut album The Turning Wheel late last year, receiving much praise and support from both local and national music communities.
Since it's release, The Turning Wheel has received national radio airplay on Triple J, been featured on Melbourne's influential stations Triple R and PBSfm as well as numerous community stations Australia wide.
Throughout the last couple of months Alex successfully launched the second radio single As I Sleep (affectionately known as his song for dreamers). With the single resonating across the airwaves, quickly becoming a favourite of both radio announcers and audiences alike, Alex took his diverse show out on the road for the As I sleep tour.
With influences in folk, alt-country and soul evident in his work it is apparent that Alex has been exposed to a wealth of musical forms, however he has successfully created something original on The Turning Wheel, a sound that is distinctly his own with a unique and honest perspective (making it rather difficult to place under one particular genre)... certainly an interesting and eclectic live show!
Alex is currently working on his next album due for release 2010 and will be continuing to tour... see you there!
