Alexia's new album scheduled for November release is Chasing Hope, recorded over two warm sunny days in the Black River Studios of Switzerland's St Gallen region. This is a gentle departure from Alexia's first two albums. These were recorded in front of a live audience whilst touring Asia. With the new album Alexia has had the luxury of selecting her musicians and musical standards - old and new - and presenting them in a studio setting.
Chasing Hope moves from straight ahead jazz to smooth pop ballads, from Cole Porter's Love For Sale to Seal's Love's Divine, from Rodgers and Hart's timeless, Blue Moon; performed in a Latin style, to the smooth rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's The Nearness Of You. There is also a touch of gospel and a sprinkling of the blues in Chasing Hope too.
Chasing Hope is the title track and one of the four original tunes featured on the recording. Alexia wrote this tune, all about a spunky 8-year old girl called Hope. New Yorker and gifted pianist, Oliver Von Essen, brought the tune to life when they both sat down at the piano whilst living and touring in Shanghai, China!
At the London Jazz Festival on November 18, Alexia is accompanied by London-based,songwriter and pianist, Alew Webb. He wrote Forbidden Fruit, the swinging, funky opening track of the album, and has been writing fabulous tunes for Alexia ever since they met on Myspace a couple of years ago!
Alexia is joined by the Off Beat trio on this recording, musicians she has been performing throughout with Switzerland (and Neighboring countries) since her move to this country with her husband in Late 2006. They are Marcel Schefer on piano, Kalli Gerhards on bass and beat-Fraefel Haering on drums. Special guests featured on the album are Pius Baumgartner on tenor saxophones, Paula Gardner and Hope on backing vocals. Alexia Hope is the same in Chasing Hope, the title track!

....fighting back the tears I sang BEN in tribute to Michael Jackson on Friday night. Leon Duncan, on Bass, sang the backing vocals...it was unbelievable! It was moving............. and I just wanted our Jazz audience to know that for my 40 years on this earth, Michael's music has always moved me! We love you Micahel, We will miss you....and in our Jazz world we rocked to your 'You Got Me Workin' Day And Night', 'Billy Jean' and 'Blame It On The Boogie' in our last set on Friday night. A Jazz Trio and me and a jumping Jazz audience! Just for you Michael. Rest In Peace now.

Toni Rios versteht es, aus seinen Tracks eine wahre Symphonie für Ohren und Beine zu komponieren. Extrem tanzbar und trotzdem feinfühlig und filigran schallt es aus den Boxen, wenn Herr Rios hinter den Turntables steht. Sein Sound rotiert zwischen trockenem Funk und subtiler Techno-Romantik, ist groovig und macht Lust auf mehr. Am letzten Samstag im Januar 2009 ist Toni Rios zu Besuch im Presswerk und beweist das es auch im tiefsten Winter so richtig heiss wird ;-)
