This new Texan has only been playing in San Antonio since May of 2006 - but there is more to her story than meets the eye...
Alexis moved here three years ago from St. Louis to be closer to family and to raise her now three-year-old child.
While in St. Louis - she played with the Smash Band: www.smashband.com which is a very popular, high-energy band that opened for the likes of the Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. Alexis enjoyed several honors including singing live on the radio for an audience of over 40,000 listeners.
After teaching for the San Antonio Network for Young Artists: www.nya.us and for the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center - www.guadalupeculturalarts.org/ she decided to jump into music full-time again and set up a private studio along with her partner Sarah Thompson. It is called CASSA - Creative Arts Studio of San Antonio and is located in the Northside of San Antonio.

Her music is self described as folk music with alot of soul...Alexis has a voice that is reminiscent of the old Motown divas but makes people stop and listen to the contemporary lyrics and interesting and haunting chord progressions. A singer/songwriter who also happens to teach music - this lady lives it 24/7.
Alexis has shared in many honors over the last year including:
Singing the National Anthem for the National Hispana Leadership Institute where Eva Longoria was an audience member and honoree.
Her song, "Nighty Nite Quil" was chosen for the movie "Mia's Story" that was produced by Sprocket Productions - www.sprocketproductions.com to help raise awareness about teen depression.

Her two songs, "Love Fell" and "I Forgot" were used in the locally produced film Sandwich - http://filmsa.blogspot.com/ which is a dramedy (comedic drama) about Alzheimers and a single mom learning to take control of her life.
Alexis also hosted a show that featured female singer-songwriters called ELLE which she hoped would help others recognize and support the local arts scene.

"My focus now is on teaching my students and taking what I learn to create music that moves people - makes them think - or just helps them relax," when asked about what her plans are for this next year.
