I first began the art of female illusion in 1995. After attending my first drag show, I was intrigued by how a boy could so completely transform themselves into the illusion of a woman. I was friends with a guy who suggested that I could pull off a Reba McEntire illusion, but I was resistant. However a few week-ends later he convince me to “just go out in drag” and I did. I had a great time and was invited by Christiana Crackers and Nikki Coxx to come out and perform at a DSRA show that was being held at BackStreet. I did the following weekend, and although I was a Hott Mess, I was hooked.
It was during this same time that Dominique Sanchez, Aysia LaRue and other Arkansas Entertainers were starting as well. I then began performing at Our House in Hot Springs, at BackStreet, and at the Silver Dollar Saloon. After numerous years of drag, I took a sabbatical, but soon came back to the entertainment and pageant world. While I was in the Houston area, I did perform on an occasional basis in both the club venue and in private party venues. It is impossible to leave an art form that is so much fun and so very rewarding.
My nickname "Big Momma WolfChase" was bestowed upon me by Miss Dominique Sanchez, Miss Gay America 2003, because she says I mother everyone. I thought it was because I was old or because of my waist size(just joking). This nickname quickly caught on, and most people today only know me as Big Momma. As a result my husband, Scott, has become "Big Daddy" because he is ALWAYS there to help out any of the girls when they are performing and, because he is 6 foot 5 inches tall and wears a size 16, yes sixteen shoe, he’s a big boy!
Alexis is a country girl at heart and is know for performing the music of several specific country artists such as Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, and Gretchen Wilson. She also does a number of the traditionally loved hits, such as “I Will Survive”, “I Love The Nightlife”, “Sweet Dreams” and the like. She also performs Cher music and some of the more traditional Rock hits. Alexis never performs a dong that does not have some personal meaning for herself or for a member of the audience. Here lately she has adopted the new Dolly Parton hit, “BACKWOODS BARBIE” as her theme song.
Alexis appeared for over a year as a show cast member and backstage coordinator at BackStreet along with the talents of Dominique Sanchez who is the show director, and with Brooklyn Bissett, Charnay Cassidine, Kamrin Mikals, Imani Starr, Veronica DuVall, and my daughter, Roxie Starlite WolfChase.
During this time Alexis also worked as needed at Discovery Night Club with Miss Sanchez and many top rated National Entertainers such as Charity Case (MGA 00), Rachel Erikks (MGA 04),China Collins, a variety of National titleholders and many others.
BackStreet and Discovery were home to the Miss Gay America Pageants for some 26 years before the club's owner Norman Jones sold the pageant system to L&T Entertainment. Norman Jones is also known as Norma Kristi, Miss Gay America Emeritus 1973. This led to Alexis’ involvement in the pageant world, first by competing and then over the last few years in a judging capacity.
Alexis was also a frequent guest in the Raven St. James (Miss Gay Arkansas America 2007) Comedy Tour Show at BackStreet on Sunday Nights and guest hosted for Raven on numerous occasions. During the first two quarters of 2009, Big Momma filled in for and then began alternating Saturday nights every other week with Raven St. James in the Sizzlin’ Saturday’s Show at BackStreet, which is co-hosted by Big Momma’s sister Krystal Karrington (Miss American Empress Intl. 2009-10)
"Big Momma" hosted her own show at The Factory on Sunday night until the club closed. Her show “Big Momma’s Burgers, Beer and Cabaret” was an early show that featured two weekly guests and a cameo by a third performer. Talent such as Tionne Iman, Breeanna Braxton Paige Alexander, Gigi Galore, Veronica Duvall, Roxie S. WolfChase, Summer Rain, Monica DeAngelo, The Lady Champagne, Diva Dinnery, and others were Big Momma’s guests.
Alexis also appears at Club UBU in Little Rock, Jester’s in Hot Springs. (Hot Spring's great night spot), The Gig in Texarkana and other venues throughout Arkansas and the neighboring states....JUST WATCH HER CALENDAR!!!
Alexis has been blessed to compete alongside many professional and talented entertainers during pageants. This has allowed for the formation of many lasting relationships. The lessons learned, the camaraderie, and the sisterhood created has been very fulfilling. Alexis has also in addition to her own competition, served in on-stage roles during other entertainers talents, served as make-up artist, dresser, personal assistant, and prop handler for numerous other contestants, fulfilling every role possible in the pageant world.
Some of the Titles and/or Placements that Alexis has held that have been most meaningful to her include:
.. Big Momma is thrilled to be serving in the 2009 Royalty Court of the International, Inc. System as the Emeritus Titleholder in the Classic Division. She looks forward with much excitement and many plans to guide, develop, and build the Classic Division under the leadership of the Alumni Board in cooperation with the excellent administration of the CEO, Marlowe Rainbow aka Marlowe Simms (Mr. Int’l 07), the COO, Vicki Vincent aka Vincent Tucker (Miss Int’l 07) and the CFO, Dr. Mark Colomb, Ph.D.. ..
..This title will allow Big Momma to not only assist in the creation of an entirely new division of competition, but will allow her to positively impact and promote the inclusion of older, more seasoned entertainers, as well as encouraging and building self confidence in those who are newer to the art form. ..
.. Big Momma has moved from the realm of competition during the last few years to the arena of judging female illusion pageants, male illusion pageants and real girl pageantry systems, and male entertainer competitions as well. Alexis has a variety of experience in judging at bar level, the local, city, state, and national level and has judged in most all of the systems and is familiar with pageant scoring utilizing both the points value based system and the comparative/points assigned scoring system. ..
.. Big Momma is a fair and just judge, who is very honest and direct with critiques, but also offering the positive and career propelling encouragement a contestant needs to hear. Big Momma always creates concise notes during each category, where by she can clearly articulate and validate the score given the contestant, so that they are not left wondering why a particular score is received. ..
.. If you would like to schedule Big Momma to judge in your pageant or serve as a co-host or emcee, please feel free to contact us via a message here on MySpace. Messages are checked most everyday. Please include the dates and times and a contact name and phone number with area code and your email and/or website or MySpace page. ..
.. The WolfChase clan has grown and now includes numerous male and female children....my STAR children are Miss Roxie Starlite WolfChase, who has come into her own as a performer and is the current Miss Gay Twin Cities USofA, Emeritus, as well as 1st Alt. Miss Gay Heart of the Ozarks FFI and Miss Dayna Nicole DeVoux WolfChase, who is amazing and is the current reigning Miss Gay Arkansas Newcomer FFI and a new daughter who will soon appear upon the scene, Miss Anastacia Dior WolfChase. ..
.. I am so proud of these young ladies and their accomplishments in this art form. My boys include, “Big Black Man” aka as “Jeremy WolfChase”, my son-in-law’s Josh and Billy, and several other hotties I keep hidden…LOL. ..
.. The House of WolfChase always is open to accepting others into our family as long as you have a sincere desire to do you best, to learn, and to follow the ethics that are expected of all who carry the WolfChase name. Those Ethics include, among others, ALWAYS conducting yourself as a lady or a gentleman, always being truthful with Big Momma & Big Daddy, always being willing to help your brothers and sisters out, and always being kind, courteous, and appreciative to the venue owners, the audience members, and to your fellow entertainers. A WolfChase must protect the reputation of their name and their families name at all times, as we want to be known as entertainers and family members who have honor and respect for everyone and we desire to earn that same respect for ourselves. ..
.... If you are interested in being a part of a house or drag family feel free to talk to any WolfChase or contact Big Momma directly, regardless of your geographical location or where you live or perform.....
My off stage, legal name is Rick Ward-Harder, and I am 43 years of age and reside in central Arkansas, where I was born and raised. My husband, Scott, and I have a legally registered Domestic Partnership and I have taken his last name. We have a baby, Missy, who is a 16 year old Toy Fox Terrier. She allows us to live with her and lets us both know who the real “Queen” of the castle is.
I first acknowledged my sexual orientation at the age of 16 years old, coming out to my mother, a few close friends and some family members. I grew up in a very strict religious environment and due to pressure from family, the church, and clergy, at the age of 17 years old, I married my ex-wife who was 33 at the time.
She knew me quite well and I was open and honest with her about my attraction to gentlemen. She however felt that she could “fix” me. I had graduated at 17 after skipping 11th grade at the private school I was in. As a result of being an only child and being raised in a home without a TV, I read continually and was far more mature than my years. I was very politically involved and actually ran for the Pulaski County Quorum Court when I was 21 years old, a race which I lost by only 300 votes against a five term incumbent. During our marriage we had a child which we lost at six months and then subsequently had a beautiful son, Zachary, who is now 21 years of age.
During this time, while working as a Funeral Director I put myself through nursing school and began working as an Emergency /Trauma Nurse at a regional trauma center.
In 1995, after 10 years of marriage, we both realized that she needed more than I could offer her and that I needed to be true to myself and we agreed to divorce. At this point in time I had no GLBT friends or acquaintances, however, I soon began meeting people within the local GLBT community in Little Rock, Arkansas. Some of those friendships are still very valued by me to this day.
It was at point that I began my illusion career as noted above. I continued working as a nurse, in a management capacity as the Administrator of a substance abuse treatment program at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Campus while I completed a Masters in Theology and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biblical Studies.
As spirituality has always been a significant part of my life, I recognized a need for a place of worship for the GLBT community, where they are accepted and valued. This led to my founding and pasturing a church here in Little Rock, which I did until I made a move to Houston, Texas in the late 90’s. When I went to Houston, I pastored Cathedral of The Holy Spirit which had a congregation that was open and affirming to the GLBT community and was about 25% GLBT and 75% straight. During this time I also contracted with over 30 funeral homes and provided and officiated at over 300 funeral services per year for families without a church home or clergy. While in Houston, I also co-owned an upscale women’s clothing and fashion store in the Memorial area of town.
I came back home to Little Rock in the spring of 2005 to care for my mom (and my best friend), who had been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. I am an only child, so my Mom was not only my best friend but my everything, as my father died while I was just a small child. My mom passed away June 21, 2005. I was given the gift by my mom of knowing that I could be anything I chose to be in life. My mother had over the years come to terms with my orientation and showed full acceptance to me, my friends, my family of choice, and my partner.
After my mom died, I assumed the role of President /Owner of the funeral that that I now owned, Ison-Ward-Harder Funeral Home, PLLC, and Scott served as the Vice-President of Operations. We sold the firm to another local competitor, Robinson Mortuary, in late 2007.
I took this opportunity to pursue a dream I had of flying and for a period of time I worked for American Airlines as a Flight Attendant until I grew tired of being gone from Scott and our home for extended periods of time. This experience did give the chance to explore many destinations and places that I otherwise would have never been able to do.
I now work once again work as the after-hours call nurse, covering nine counties at night for the largest Home Health Agency in Central Arkansas. Scott is also employed by the same Hospital Organization that I work for, where he works on a medical-surgical floor. We both work nights and stay on a night schedule even on our days off, as this fits nicely with my entertaining as well.
I keep my nursing license and my funeral directors license current, of course, as well as my clergy credentials. My strongest talents lie in the areas of public speaking, presentations, the written word, and administrative issues. I enjoy the formulating administrative policies, documents, and technical writing.
The man in my life, and my Prince Charming is Scott Harder aka within the entertainment arena as Big Daddy WolfChase), and he is awesome. It’s interesting that just a few short years (1998) ago he was my best friend, but someone who I never would have dreamed would be interested in me. He is a typical southern gentleman, hard-working, responsible, genuine, and full of compassion. He is continually even-tempered and sees the absolute best in everybody. We truly compliment each other very well. Since 1998, we have never had a fight or a major disagreement. We both truly appreciate the differences and diversity that we bring to our relationship.
Scott is 40 years old, was born in Nebraska and moved to Arkansas at age 18. He is a very attractive man, but what is most wonderful about him is the person he is inside. What more could I hope for, a great man, great character, beautiful personality, and a someone who is a huge supporter of my illusionary career and the art form in general. He has a wonderful family that gives me love and acceptance, and his parents consider me just another son.
Big Daddy (Scott) is a huge fan of the illusionary arts and of pageantry in both the drag world and in the real girl systems. He attends all of the pageants that I judge and all of the shows and pageants I do. He operates the spot lights, assists with set-ups and tear-downs, serves as a back-stage drag slave and generally throws in his help where anyone needs a hand. He enjoys helping all the girls with anything they need assistance with backstage.
Scott also co-owns, along with myself, Southern Imperial Pageantry Systems, which is the parent company and promoter of the American Emperor and American Empress International Inc. Regional Preliminaries to the Mr. and Miss International, Inc. International Pageants. We also own the Arkansas International, Inc. State Preliminary to the same International Pageant. Scott serves as the Chief Executive Officer, while I am the Chief Operations Officer.
In almost twelve years, I have never heard another person say a negative word about him, as he is kind, gentle, and always willing to be supportive where ever he is needed. I also have never spoken ill of him in that time and see nothing but good radiating from him 24/7. He is a genuinely great man. You would be fortunate to call him friend.
I am a dad as stated previously, and would like to have another child by adoption someday. My son is 21 years old and graduated with honors. He is now completing a BS degree at a well known college and will soon be entering Dental School.
Spirituality is a very important part of my life and my orientation and my religious beliefs blend quite well. My faith forms the basis of my value system of honesty, integrity, and mercy.
I am always open to expanding my social interests. Life is a learning process, and each new person I meet shares something from which I learn. I love history, travel, and exploring new places, and dining out. I love spending time with my Scott, our family, and friends. We both enjoy bookshops, antique malls ,and taking trips together. I love the beautiful mountains of the Ozarks.
I love to read and especially the Patricia Cornwell books, as they reflect actual science and the story lines always leave you guessing until the very last page. I have read every book she has written.
