The film shows an 8-minute drive through Paris in the early hours of the morning, accompanied by sounds of a high-revving engine, gear changes and squealing tires. It starts in a tunnel of the Paris Périphérique, with an onboard view from an unseen car exiting up on a ramp to Avenue Foch. Well known landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Opéra Garnier, and Place de la Concorde with its obelisk are passed, as well as the Champs-Elysées. Pedestrians are passed, pigeons sitting on the streets are scattered, red lights are ignored, one-way streets are driven up the wrong way and centre lines are crossed. The car is never seen as the camera seems to be attached below the front bumper, judging from the relative positions of other cars, the visible headlight beam and the final shot when the car is parked in front of curbstones on the Sacre Coeur hill. Here, the driver gets out and embraces a young blonde woman as bells ring in the background.
It is often claimed or speculated that the film uses Lelouch's own Ferrari 275 GTB, some other Ferrari type, an Alpine, or even a Le Mans prototype race car (largely believed to be a Matra, which was a successful racer a few years before the filming). Some even boldly state the type or color of the car, despite it never being seen. For the anonymous driver, professional racers of the time like Jacques Laffite, Jacky Ickx or Petar Vranesevic were suspected.
Calculations made by several independent groups showed that the car never exceeded 140 km/h (85 mph). Lelouch himself claimed that the top speed achieved was over 200 km/h, somewhere between 230 km/h and 240 km/h. Comments from Lelouch prove that the vehicle that carried the camera was his Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9. A picture was released of Lelouch working with the gyro stabilized camera on his Mercedes. This model, which could reach a top speed of 235 km/h, was only available with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Yet, one can hear gear changes up into 5th, with a high-revving engine indicating speeds of well over 200 km/h. Sometimes one can hear the driver miss gears while attempting to shift as fast as possible, something that is impossible with automatic transmission, proving that the sound was dubbed. It is suggested that the sound was dubbed with the noise of Lelouch's 275GTB, which has a corresponding number of gears and a similar engine note. A May 2006 making-of-the-rendezvous documentary indicates that Lelouch himself was the driver, that the car driven was the Mercedes, although the sound track is from a Ferrari. One observer was posted close to the Louvre palace at a blind junction (archway) to assist the driver.
Lelouch was arrested after the film's first showing, but later released with no charges. Daniel Swain, a reckless teenager, was also arrested after trying to replicate the path through Paris with his Nissan Pulsar. He was given a large fine, the amount of which he refused to disclose.
The band Low vs Diamond chose to use the film as the video for their song "Life After Love" which first appeared mid 2006.[6] Six months later, the band Snow Patrol also used the film as the video for their single "Open Your Eyes" from their fourth album Eyes Open.

I think I like to think it was all real and filmed with the Ferrari - but I'm a bit of a rev head! *hehehe*
Music

I have fairly eclectic tastes - everything from Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby, to the Rolling Stones, Beatles John Butler Trio, Radiohead, Cold Chisel, Metallica and Mozart!
Not the biggest fan of rap...well, pretty much hate it! ;P
Will dance to anything to my feet fall off, and love a good rave (with all the accessories!) Love Jeff Buckley, Crowded House, Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, Queen, Ben Harper, Tool, Perect Circle, Green Day, U2, Sinead O'Connor, Alice Cooper, Portishead, Dire Straits, The Doors, Gorillaz, Grace Knight, Frank Sinatra, The Whitlams, Cruel Sea, Matchbox 20, Xavier Rudd (thanks Timmy!)

MoviesFavourite films of all time are Gone With The Wind, Dial M for Murder, Breakfast at Tiffany's and American History X.
Essentially, I love anything with a great point, a great twist or great direction!

Never seen Mad Max, Rambo (which Daryl finds incomprehensible)...and I don't like Star Wars (but Spaceballs is hilarious) and hate ET!
Anything Hitchhcock, Cary Grant, Jaohn Malkovich, Jeremy Irons or Gabriel Byrne is always good...
No wonder I can't ever find anyone to watch movies with! ;P

PS....If you ever get a chance to see and old English short film called "The Plank" - its well worth hunting down...

TelevisionUnashamedly addicted to Neighbours (always have, always will), House, Huff, Boston Legal, Family Guy, American Dad, Law and Order.
Have a big soft spot for old Aussie series like Carson's Law, Blue Heelers, Raferty's Rules and Hey Dad...what can I say, Hey Dad is truly timeless!!
All British comedy is brilliant, favs are Faulty Towers and Men Behaving Badly, The Goodies and Open All Hours, Yes, Minister.

All humans should read "Ishmael" and "The Celestine Prophecy"
Currently reading "The Goths", "A Medieval History of Europe" - and "Temple", for a break!

You Are The Hanging Man
You represent the seeking of enlightenment and spiritual clarity.
You tend to confuse others, but your oddities seem deeply satisfying.
Self sacrifice is easy for you, especially if it makes you a better person in the end.
You are the type of person who is very in touch with your soul and inner spirit.

Your fortune:

Right now is a good time for reflection and meditation.
You should stop resisting the problems in your life, and let yourself be vulnerable to them.
You may need to sacrifice something important to you to move ahead in your life.
Accept your destiny with courage, and learn to let go of what you think you need.

HeroesHmm...My hero was my Papa, who died on Novenber 15, 2004. A great man - the bravest person I knew, the last gentleman ...an attribute I truly admired. He and my grandmother were together for 65 years. Alongside Papa, I place anyone who has the strength to stand up for themselves and the good of all people as a worhty hero.

(Oh, and this duck too ;P)

***NEWS UPDATE***

CHARLOTTE PAIGE HAS ARRIVED! Charlotte was born a very healthy 8lbs5oz (3.788kg) on Monday 19th November at 8.22pm. She was delivered by emergency Caesarian Section after a labour of 24 hours - with all her fingers and toes. Charlotte has a mass of thick black hair and very dark eyes...she's magnificent! (not a hint of bias! lol) After spending 5 days in hospital, we arrived home in 40oC heat last Saturday and Charlotte is doing very well. I'm still sore from the operation, but slowly on the mend. The photos of Charlotte are up now, so have a peek at our beautiful little girl!

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! :)
Daryl proposed to me in June, all very romantic, with a beautiful emerald and diamond ring. Planning to get married in Melbourne on the Vernal Equinox 2009...will keep you updated!

So totally thrilled that you've got a bun in the oven. That's lifechanging news and happy news at that - well done, you two!

Can't believe the ridiculous amount of hours you've been working! You take care now that you're eating for two, y'hear? Good to hear that you had a lovely relaxing day off though.

Come east, come east - it'd be great to have you closer by! I'd just love see you after all these years, it'd be fantastic.

Have you heard the new Crowdies' song yet? Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! :)

Doing a classical-ish kind of gig this weekend... not really a gig, more of a golf-clapping sort of concert :)

Other than that, been working a little too hard... I've come down with the flu :( Spending some quality time with my Neil dvds and sleeping lots today.

Hope all is well with you,
Love & hugs
