Sounds Like
If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.

BIO:A Native of New Orleans, Alexis Marceaux, is a Singer-Songwriter whose music is known for poignant lyrics woven into a tapestry of soulful melodies. Influenced by artists like Carole King, Alanis Morissette and her musical style can best be described as a collision of eclectic acoustic alternative and mellow intoxication.
Alexis’ first public venue was at the age of 7, and she wrote her first song at the age of 13. Born in New Orleans, Alexis and her family lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and had to start again. This experience strengthened her musically allowing her an outlet of expression and creativity through her songwriting. She attributes much of her musical inclination to her father who is also a New Orleans musician and to her constant musical surroundings as a young child.
Without much in the way of formal lessons, she plays guitar, piano and harmonica to accompany and compliment her powerful vocals, as well as to compose. Over the years, Alexis has enjoyed classical vocal training in both the private and academic setting; however, she prefers the organic sound that comes from unconventional musical creativity.
Alexis has just completed her first full length album entitled, Dandelion, at Audiophile studios in the French Quarter and it is currently being mixed and mastered by sound engineer David Farrell. She currently plays live shows in and around the New Orleans area, has played multiple festivals and has been a featured performer in many venues. Alexis has a large local fan base that is expanding continuously.
