The small print...
Producer of nine albums plus countless one-off tracks, writer, mad artist and performer who has played live on four continents: SF Bay Area based Alex Alcyone (originally from the UK) has established himself as an innovative force in contemporary electronic dance music.
He has worked with artists as diverse as Kenwyn House (Reef), Greg Ellis (Juno Reactor), Andy Barlow (Lamb), Medicine Drum, Paul Berrow (Manager / Exec. Producer - Duran Duran), Suzanne Sterling (Alcyone, Skyclad), flautist Bodhi, vocalist / DJ Cybervixen, and vocalist Gina Gaye (White Fire).
Always doing things his own way, he combines classical training with influences from the diverse world of electronic music (in particular the UK and USA underground scenes) to create a formidable, sweeping landscape of sound.
His electronic dance music has tremendous dancefloor appeal and energy - yet is richly textured, sophisticated, lucid and emotive.
Accolades for his work include: NAR's "Ambient Album Of The Year 2006" for Bodhi's Trans Ukraine; rave reviews of his production of Medicine Drum's third album "Original Face" ("a major thrill... one cool track after another" -- Billboard) ; and record deals with major dance label System Recordings (Alcyone) and Virgin / EMI subsidiary Cyberoctave (Medicine Drum).
Alex continues to produce records for other artists, and tracks by commission - such as his recent commission to produce music for ESPN's coverage of the 2007 Winter X-Games.
