About ALEX ROOTS

I’m Alex Roots, I’m 16 and I’ve been making my album ‘Adrenaline Rush’ since i was 14 with my buddy Ryan Laubscher. People say my music is very 80’s influenced but I was born in 1992! I love making music but performing is just the best. I’ve played loads of shows – a lot of my own but also some amazing ones supporting McFly, Calvin Harris and the Sugababes (outdoors in front to thousands of people!!).

These are crazy times at the moment – I’ve just made a video for my new single “Don’t Stop Looking” with Emil Nava (awesome guy who made videos for Tinchy Stryder/N-Dubz), I’m presenting an episode of the BBC 5:19 show and I’m getting geared up for the release of Don’t Stop Looking on 7th September.

If there’s one thing I love most about this though it’s you, the fans. I can’t stay off the computer – Twitter, blogging, posting competitons on youtube, my in4merz street team etc – you’re great and I thank youuuuu!

I think '99 Red Balloons' is to us 80s types what 'My Heart Will Go On' is to the 90s generation, though... :D If I'd heard your version without knowing the singer, I'd have sworn it was Cyndi, hence my curiosity at how close you'd sound doing one of her songs. You're right though - best way to show range is definitely by doing stuff totally different to your normal sound. Looking forward to your next cover, whatever it may be :)
