Alex Sheppard is an acoustic musician based in London who has been gigging since she was 15. Originally from Norwich, Alex quickly rose to the forefront of East Anglia's music scene, playing at the region's premier venues including the UEA LCR and Norwich Arts Centre and becoming a BBC Norfolk favourite.
After a year spent busking around Europe and sharing a stage with a ladyboy Cabaret act in Thailand, she relocated to London in 2007.
Since then, her music career has gone from strength to strength. She played Latitude Festival in 2008, has been featured in NME Magazine and supported Dirty Pretty Things on the live circuit in London.
Alex was also a finalist in the Takamine/Ovation singer-songwriter showcase last year, and was recently featured as Steve Lamacq's Unsigned Act of the Week. She has been played on Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Radio Show and the Huw Stevens show, as well as being featured by Zane Lowe, who praised her “great lyrics” and declared himself a fan.
At the end of 2009, Alex signed to independent label Dustbowl Records and is set to release an album through the label in autumn 2010. The album will include collaborations with Adelaide's Cape and mark Alex's first musical venture with a full band behind her.
