Alexander SIGMAN (b.1980) is currently in the dissertation phase in Music Composition at Stanford University, having studied primarily with Brian Ferneyhough. In 2007, he pursued post-graduate study with Chaya Czernowin at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, and attended the one-year intensive curse at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague in 2007-2008. Prior to Stanford, Sigman obtained a BM in Music Composition and a BA in Cognitive Sciences from Rice University. Additionally, he has received performances at several music programs and festivals, such as June in Buffalo, the Darmstädter-Ferienkurse ,the Abbaye de Royaumont, and the Wellesley Composers Conference. His music has been performed thoughout Europe and the US by such ensembles as the Arditti Quartet, les Percussions de Strasbourg, and Ensemble SurPlus, as well as soloists such as Magnus Andersson, Jean Kopperud, Eliot Gattegno, and Françoise Rivalland. Additionally, his installations, works for electronics, and media-pieces have been presented at DNK-Amsterdam, ICMC, the Sonorities Festival, and the In-Sonora Muestra (Madrid). Since his undergraduate studies, Sigman has received several commissions, awards and grants, including the American Composers’ Forum Encore grant, Columbia University’s Bearns Prize,a Fulbright scholarship to the Netherlands, and a fellowship for a residency at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (2008-2009). In June 2007, he was composer-in-residence at the Musiques Démesurées festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
Sigman has authored several published articles, and conducts research in Music Cognotion on occasion. Since 2007, he has been co-editor of Search Journal for New Music and Culture, and Managing Director of the Dutch ensemble Modelo62.

The “Encuentro de Arte Sonoro TSONAMI” its a showcase and exchange platform for the work of national and international artists that gather around sound in its many manifestations; Music, Performance, Multimedia, Sound Installations, and other manifestations that don..t have a place in mainstream or traditional communications media, and that does not pursue commercial or lucrative ends.
