My influences are vast and various. I grew up on a staple diet of classic bands such as The Beatles, The Who, Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Pink floyd and Genesis.
Lots of my influences come from the 80's & 90's from such artists as New Order, The Smiths, Blondie, The Jam, The Stone Roses, The Verve, Oasis, Radiohead, Ocean Colour Scene and the Manic Street Preachers.
Among the more obvious, my music also has some roots in classical and folk, namely Vivaldi, Mike Oldfield and Clannad.
I am a big fan of modern artists such as Kasabian, The Music, Reverend and the Makers and Arctic monkeys. I also enjoy and am influenced by dance music, finding alot of inspiration for melodies and drum beats. My most inspirational dance artists are The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Groove amada, The Shamen and Utah Saints.
I admire others who put time into their music and am a big fan of subtleties and changing dynamics.
Finally I would like to cite my influence to all those people who are being themselves and not trying to be something they're not. If you have read this far, I thank you greatly : )
Sounds Like
Its hard for me to say. My music sounds like it sounds. Its me and its what I'm about. I hope you like it,
Thank you for paying me a visit. See you around!
Alex
..What Others Have to Say:
Electricity is awesome! Nice modern vocals, with an almost retro-esque instrumentation feel. Kinda bluesy and kinda classic rocky, but staying fairly upbeat modern pop rock. Love it! "
(MatchBox Radio)
"Great voice, great guitar playing. Would look at home on any stage"
(Katie Knass - Hull Daily Mail)
"Could be the next Paul Heaton"
(Matt Holden- Hull Daily Mail)
"Even though he is a solo act, Alex does not need a big band behind him to fill the stage. He has an amazing presence and will be sure to capture his audience’s attention with his original material and his version of other artists’ tunes. Watch out for this guy as he is bound to be a big noise soon."
(Tori Oldridge - Bounce Promotions)
The songs are upbeat, passionate & catchy. The Dublin Castle sound crew & crowd all loved it!
(Tony Gleed - Bugbear Promotions, London)
"A new face on the Hull acoustic scene, who is already making a big impression after only a few gigs"
(Music H.Q; Hull)
Alex delivers punch and melody in his live work and his recorded material. His intelligent & soulful songwriting demonstrates meticulous craft and his vocal delivers a quality that is as enticing as it is possessed.
I'm 26 Years old and am a singer/songwriter from Kingston-Upon-Hull. I have been busy am performing my own material and cover material across Yorkshire, Lancashire & Lincolnshire since late 2007 and recently moved down to London to ply my trade! If you are interested in booking me to play at your venue or would like a free demo CD, please contact me at: alex_stork@hotmail.co.uk
I first picked up the guitar when I was 16 and soon started to have a crack at singing along and writing my own material. I continued to write and also started playing drums when I was 20.
I have co-written and enjoyed playing music with lots of people, namely 'The Quays' for who I play drums and backing vocals.
I have now embarked on this solo project, through a desire to record and perform my music. I am trying to create a universal sound to cross different styles of music as I am a big fan of various genres (see influences). Musically, I'd try anything once and am forever open to new ideas and techniques.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Yeah... It was good to see you last night Alex, and I enjoyed your new songs.. I'm currently performing with the two keyboards + pedals.. "at the MAX"! - Just holding out for April/May hullvibe entries, and the Cott Fest! - I am flat broke.. and after May..? Possibly a 2nd site, new name, and much "deeper" recorded material only..? - See you again soon, Regards Tim.
Cheers Alex,I've been around the block as they say. See you were down for the next Seafront session in Cleethorpes which is where I saw your name. Cheers Steve

Hi Alex, I've had to use every penny to try to get recording done, and that's made anything else difficult! - This lass Geri is Abbie Lammas's sister, she was real keen to collaberate with vocals, then I discovered that my emails to a few people although were "sent", hadn't actually gone out! So I re-sent them all from the library, in her case 2 weeks later, and she may not have checked her email - Mind you Alex, I've had a few people who suggest collaberating, then just discard the idea! - I'm currently waiting to hear from the Acorn Trust Fund, as I've applied for a small business loan... If they don't I'll record a song called "The New Deal Farce"! (God, I hope they do!) - See you soon Tim.
