"The eye is like a lamp for the body. If therefore thine eye be clear, then thy body shall be filled with light. But if thine eye be evil, then thy whole body shall be filled with darkness." - Matt 6:22
Alex Taylor and the Evil Eye was first established in 2006 by founding members Alex Taylor (classical/gypsy improvised violin) and Simon Quinn (electronic soundscapes and programmed beats). Alex Taylor graduated from the University of Southern Queensland in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music (Hons). Rather then persue the life of a classical musician Alex instead chose to develop his musicianship in the realm of more creative experimental improvisation and composition in celtic, gypsy, and classical styles. He moved to Melbourne in 2003 and began performing with Wendy Rule, Dandelion Wine, The Boy Who Spoke Clouds (formerly Seascapes of the Interior) and experimental rock band Mushroom Giant, as well as numerous recording sessions and gigs as a session violinist.
Now, because there is no real band as such anymore, Alex has been composing the songs that you have been hopefully enjoying on this page, but it takes real live people working together in mutual understanding and harmony in order to create a truly viable musical entity, therefore we (that's the royal 'we') are looking for a lap-top artiste to collaborate with and a double bass player willing to drop sick twisted bass-lines on an unsuspecting audience. Please drop us a line if you are interested :)
Alex!!! It's no heavy metal farmer, but cop this :
Some bold new artistic direction? Nah, Just us being silly!!! We did this track for our label's "Black Snow - the completely different Xmas compilation".
Wishing you a very silly Silly Season and we'll see you again in 2010 before we head back to Australia!
Hey Alex! Yeah, i'll send you new EYETOFUK album when it's out, definitely not the most popular music around, but we must do something with dub thing together. I'm sure you'll scrape enought for a ticket to LT, though, hehe! Plix
Guten Tag Herr Taylor, Thanks for the request! I think I've got some great photos from the weekend that I have to get my pincers on... pince pince! Lobsty
