..It was an absolute pleasure to hear the result of what has gone on in the last 12 months of Alex Watt..s life. The development of his craft through a lot of hard work has resulted in a good album.. Nick Erby CMR Network.
Born and raised on the land in the tiny wheat belt town of Koorda, Alex has always had his heart and soul in the soil.
From a family of six children growing up without television, music was the main feature of family life. Alex..s father was a musician in a local band and involved Alex at an early age to learn the basics of the piano and then guitar. With his father..s guidance and encouragement, Alex would play and sing to entertain family and friends whenever and wherever he could. This upbringing is strongly reflected in his music.
At the age of 16, Alex started writing his own songs, with his passion for the land and family values becoming evident in his lyrics. ..Old Koorda Town.. is a prime example of this passion.
When Alex was 21, the family suffered a major setback and lost the family farm. This meant Alex didn..t have a choice but to leave the land and the life he knew and loved. This however only reinforced his will to one day return to the land.
Initially after leaving the farm Alex became a qualified Agricultural Plant Mechanic. Coupled with his love for music, he began performing at hotels and clubs throughout regional Australia to gain experience and hone his skills as a songwriter.
Recognising a talent, Alex began to compete in a range of major Country Music talent quests, gaining a measure of success and interest, including the Telstra Road to Tamworth quest held in Kalgoorlie. His hard work and persistence paid off when he was awarded Male Victorian Champion of Champion in 2004.
2004 saw Alex with wife Sheree and their 3 children pack up and head to the East Coast to pursue lasting success in the Country Music industry as a singer/songwriter. Now settled with his family in Tamworth N.S.W - the Country Music Capital of Australasia, Alex..s career is on the move in a big way!
He was a finalist in the Prestigious Star Maker in 2005, and a finalist in 2006 TSA National Song writing Contest.
Alex has a finalist nomination in the ..2006 Southern Stars Australian Independent Country Music Awards.. in the Male Rising Star Category.
He is now in high demand in hotels and clubs throughout N.S.W, largely featuring his own material.
Now everyone has the opportunity to hear this rising star with the production of his debut album ..Window Down... Released in November 2005 and produced in association with Roger Corbett, the title track ..Window Down.. made it to ..25 on the Top 30 Country Tracks Chart. And his 2nd single ..Daddys Boots.. received strong airplay support. ..Watch The Sun Go Down.. is the new single released now.
Sit back relax and listen.
