About me:
Al GAMEA was founded in September 18, 2004 after a group of Middle Easterners Gay friends (Chris, David, Sam, Bashar and Stephan) watched a Documentary called I Exist.
That film got the founders thinking, there wasn’t any organization working towards serving the GLBT Middle Eastern Population in michigan. So the group brain stormed and one of the group thought of Al GAMEA or GAMEA standing for GLBT Association of Middle Eastern Americans, and also in Arabic meaning, the Association, or the Gathering. Since then the group worked on expanding what another co-founder, Christiano Ramazzotti and his partner “David” built on their own for 2 years in advocate of the community. The last few Arabian Nights were taken over by the group, and soon, the group hopes to expand its services, and truly become a great support, and backbone, to the GLBT Middle Eastern community.
We strive to create a forum for support, socialization, education and awareness, in an area that's home to the largest and most visible Middle Eastern community in the country, and to expand internationally via the World Wide Web. In the end our goal is quite simply to let people know, we are Middle Eastern, We may be Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender, but we are proud, and we do exist
