Ali & The Dts are a 7-piece Blues and Soul group from Dublin City, Ireland. Originally formed in the summer of 2006, they started by playing old blues standards in Beat clubs around Dublin. They took influences from Chess Records artists such as Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters & Sonny Boy Williamson and also found inspiration in Motown & Stax performers James Brown & Otis Redding.
Over the past two years the band has gigged relentlessly while developing their sound. Last summer, they rented a log cabin in the country, and started recording. Those compositions can now be found in their original debut album "Get the first layer of Civilization off". Ali de Mora, front man of the DT's, got the album title from a self help book entitled "How to be a successful drinker", a book he stumbled upon while holidaying in San Francisco California.
Hey, how's it going? Thanks for the add - respect!!! My new release "Subline EP" on Chris Cowie's Bellboy Records, is out now on all the main digital stores - Beatport, Juno download, iTunes etc... !!! Samplers are on my page - check them out, cheers!
you are well I take it? That's a fact about him and his band. There is a limit on what taxes artists pay in this country, changes have been mentioned recently and I'm not sure if they have been implemented yet, but all artists, had a tax free exemption up to recently, no matter what their income. Our country is so unequal, we have many more people now who are going to fall through the cracks when the recent savage budgets cuts of last week start to kick in - kick in, an appropiate term.
Nobody is above criticism, especially hypocritical people who pontificate from on high, I won't mention his name.
ALI of the DT'S does not marquarade in another band under the name of Nicola and the Something Elsies......all rumours to the contrary will be severely sang to at his next blues gig.....in his deepest, most passionate and best crocodile blues voice.
These alligations are false, and we (his fans), fervently hope, that this emphatic statement will put an end to all alligators!
Hello Nicola, all's well here lots happening. We are expecting a hatchet budget tomorrow, from the bottom up to how far I'm not sure will be given a chop or three.....children's allowance cut, social welfare, etc etc., most of the brunt will be taken by workers who already had their wages slashed with new 'levies' introduced by our -friends of the corrupt- government.
Sounds like Berlin was swinging...it wudnt be like Bono to miss that one.....you do know he is a hypocrite and the band are tax dodgers?....not so well liked here.
I try not to think about Christmas, I don't like the plastic that goes with the gift tags...to commercial for my liking and I'm not religious anyway, but it's nice to see families re-bonding again for another year. I hope to be going to Mayo the weekend after next, a bit of a get together of the Shell2Sea campaigners, so a nice quiet break in the country away from the madness is just what santy ordered!!
New York is a great place...was just talking about it today...thinking of trying to get over next year.
It's cold and wet here....havn't hit golf ball in weeks. Have a great week yourself, chat soon, Michael.
Hello all, had a listen last night to your new stuff...super sounds...love the arrangement on 'Always the Fool'...can the album be got in a record shop?
