Alice McLaughlin writes and sings magnificent, soulful pop, tinged with blues and folk. Evoking the fierce and the fragile, with passion and spontaneity at the heart of her lyrics, Alice’s music crosses mainstream appeal with leftfield spirit. With captivating live performances garnering her scores of fans and credible support slots, Alice has been described variously as ‘a female Hunky Dory-era Bowie’, ‘a modern Janis Joplin’, even 'a female Johnny Cash'.
Alice self released and co-produced The Eastcote Sessions in 2005 with help from producer Will Worsley, Ted Barnes (Beth Orton, Clayhill) and double bass maestro Ali Friend (Red Snapper, Clayhill), a beautiful testament to her folk and soul influenced beginnings.
In 2007, Alice found a spiritual home at Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best label and released two singles, Dolly Figured and I Could Love You. Mixed by Dan Grech-Margeurat the singles found key radio support from Giles Peterson(Radio1), Bob Harris (Radio 2), John Kennedy (XFM) and Tom Robinson (6music). Parlophone Records soon snapped Alice up, later encouraging her nom de guerre ‘Alice & the Majesty’. Alice spent 2008 with Parlophone writing for an album that never saw the light of day; she became one of the slew of artists dropped from the EMI roster after the takeover.
Alice has returned to her independent roots in 2009, releasing her self-produced Now or Never EP through her imprint label Wherewithal Records. Alice is teaming up with producer Dan Carey to record her long awaited album, finally, this summer 2009....TBC....

I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
