Alien Skin is the electronic-music experiment of long time REAL LIFE keyboardist and composer, George Pappas. For anyone unaware, Australian synthesizer band Real Life is internationally acclaimed for smash 1980s hits such as Send Me an Angel, 'Catch me I'm Falling' and the classic debut album, 'Heartland'.
Don't Open Till Doomsday - Debut Album
"Do you believe in heaven above, Do you believe in love?" sing Real Life in the smash 80's classic Send Me An Angel.
Now Alien Skin, aka George Pappas, long time keyboardist with the renowned Australian band, has finally released his debut album. He doesn't attempt to answer the puzzle but creates his own private universe in 'Don't Open Till Doomsday'.
The 10 songs here present an atmosphere of introspective electronic melancholia. Infectious melodies underpin the dark, gothic ambience which is often sparse and minimal, at times opening up to a lush hit of light that lures you forward. With subject matter ranging from estranged sci-fi love, to Jacob's Ladder, to Hiroshima, the music confirms a solemn monochrome world outside. It's best listened to uninterrupted.
'Don't Open Till Doomsday' is music for astronauts, aliens and all marginal beings living at the frontiers. Friends of Martin Gore and Depeche Mode would not feel unwelcome here.
Hello George, words cannot really describe the song "The unquiet grave". It's so emotional and perfectly completed with your sensitive vocal!!! hugs, Silvi
Awesome George, awesome! Yes, much similarities to Martin Gore, with echoes of Vince Clarke and even David Sylvian. A couple of tracks even remind me of Enigma. A fairly European sound. Will defo be downloading this album! Thanks so much for finding me and good luck with your solo career. Hev xxx
