Bio:

Alien Voodoo is an International recording project/band, featuring the music of Billy Ray, an artist who has been on the fringe of the music business for several years. The project consists of : Billy Ray: Vocals, Guitars, Keys, Percussion, and assorted strangeness. Resides just outside Mainz, Germany. Thomas Buchhorn: Lead Guitar. Bochum, Germany. Steve Cherne: Bass Guitar. Resides in Michigan, USA. Stif Petersen: Drums. Resides in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA. Billy decided to work and release music under the name Alien Voodoo for a couple reasons. First of all, his last name does not rhyme with "Virus" but having the name Billy Ray has caused enough confusion in the past. As an american expat (that's Texan, thank you) living in Germany , somehow the moniker seems rather fitting. Alien, as in outsider, strange, foreigner...Voodoo, well, each individual can make his own judgment as to how that fits in. The guys play high energy, soulfull, intelligent rock and roll which refuses to fit any one category. Powerful, uplifting, aggressive. Emotional, poetic, and somehow graceful. Currently, Billy is recording vocals and is planning a late spring, 2010 release of the Alien Voodoo album. Influences:

The death of Elvis, the murder of John Lennon, having country music shoved down my throat as a kid, world religions and all the problems caused by them, being rejected by every major label in the world, playing my own music and discovering that people like it, even though the "suits" don't know how to market the music, horror movies, beautiful women, late nights in too many shithole bars, walking down ancient cobble stone streets in europe, observing the mass of humanity all around me, books, bad radio stations, good radio stations, terrorvision/television, all the great musicsians I've shared the stage with, watching the Berlin wall come tumbling down, all the places in the world I've seen,good and bad, all the people I've had the pleasure of knowing along life's journey. I am influenced daily by the people and events surrounding me, the good and the bad! I was raised to be myself, not to chase after trends, to strive to be original. In my pursuit of happiness I've learned that the only way to truly be happy is to follow your heart, where ever that may lead you. This has been the greatest influence of all.
