ALI FERGUSON is a 34 year old guitarist/singer from Edinburgh, Scotland. He has extensive, practical, musical experience having been a professional musician from the age of 19 and performing and recording with many different artists, in many different genres.
In the spring of 2006 he joined ex-GENESIS and STILTSKIN vocalist RAY WILSON’s band and toured solidly for the rest of the year, including a 27 date “World of Genesis” British tour, a 3 week run at the Edinburgh Festival and almost 50 dates in Germany and Europe as part of a re-formed Stiltskin to promote the new album, ”She”.
In 2007,Ali went on to feature on the latest "Ray Wilson and Stiltskin Live" album release..and enjoyed a busy touring year ,including dates in France,Italy,Luxembourg,Belgium,Poland,Austria and Switzerland,a headline appearance at Norway's "Classic Rock Festival",a spring British tour,7 Edinburgh Festival shows and another large German tour in the Autumn.
2008 again saw many dates all over Europe with a month-long acoustic tour in September,a full band tour in November and the release of the new Ray Wilson album "Propaganda Man" featuring Ali's playing on many tracks and the track "Frequency" which Ali co-wrote with Ray.
2009 is another busy year all over Europe with many highlights so far including gigs in Italy and the Czech Republic and with Simple Minds in Luxembourg for 7,000 people.
Ali is also a member of the DOUGIE MACLEAN BAND and was pleased to join Dougie in 2008 for dates including Celtic Connections ,Glasgow's Maydaze celebrations,the Edinburgh Festival and his own Perthshire Amber festival.
In 2009 Ali will perform with Dougie at such gigs as Speyfest,The Blas Festival,The Hebridean Tattoo and again at Perthshire Amber.
Over the years Ali has performed many prestigious, sell out concerts all over Britain and Europe with the world renowned singer/songwriter, including ; Glasgow Royal Concert Hall , Perth Concert Hall, Denmark’s Tonder Festival and a live BBC Television broadcast in front of 15,000 people at Glasgow Green.
His playing can also be heard on Dougie Maclean’s most recent album release “Inside The Thunder”.
Other artists of note that Ali has played with include FRASER ANDERSON. Now based in France, Fraser is one of Europe’s finest upcoming singer/songwriter talents,with whom Ali has played many gigs ,including Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens and support for Joan Armatrading at Perth City Hall.
Also in the last few months Ali has recorded guitar parts for the upcoming Scottish singer/songwriter GINA MACLEOD for her debut album, "Butterfly Days"
Ali also has recording credits on “Gotta Get it Right vol 1” the debut EP by Scottish/Italian soul artist RAFF.
When he is at home in Edinburgh, Ali can be seen in many venues in Scotland as part of the well known STEVIE AGNEW BAND,who have had many high profile gigs including touring as support for Scottish rock legends Nazareth and Welsh superstars the Stereophonics.
In between tours, Ali is still trying hard to finish work on his first solo album , a mix of songs and ambient music, and hopes to release it in the coming months.....please see
