"Alighting have the uncanny ability to form three-minute indie strumalongs that'll have you humming like a refrigerator, particularly if your fridge is a Crimea fan. All the songs on this, their first precious slab, are pleasant to hear but unsettling to listen to, and all the better for it. No pressure or anything, but the skill and heartfelt texture that Alighting operate with suggest that they'll become one of those truly wondrous things - a band that can, perhaps through documenting despair and longing with hooks you could hang Neil Young off, provide real people with a vision of joyous hope. What's more, your correspondant was on the brink of whistling 'Crashing Cars' for hours. Don't bet against hearing more of them... "
Drowned In Sound
There are lots of good gigs on across the city for the first 11 days of May! PLUS!! some new additions. So much of the festival is also free and not only concerts too, there are exhibitions and dance classes, lectures and workshops.
in other words, something for every person, every interest, every pocket and every mood.
Sounds great, I'm back in cambridge to support Carina Round at the Barfly on Sunday 9th December, but definitely looking for some intimate type gigs in the new year. Keep me posted, and keep the music coming, greg
