    She contains multitudes. Multitudes of music, that is. Best known as one of the few women in rock who can solo with the electric fury and fluid grace of a Hendrix, Slash or Page, Ali Handal is also a multi-award winning songwriter and a uniquely gifted singer. Her songs have been heard in countless movies and TV shows, and her performances have taken her from L.A. to Japan and beyond; she’s performed at Neverland Ranch, danced with Janet Jackson, sung on a Neil Young album, had her hands filmed playing guitar in a Playboy video, written with Paul Williams, and even demonstrated guitars several times on “The Price Is Right.” Attempting to define the vastness of her musical terrain, Live magazine described her as “Chrissie Hynde meets Ani DiFranco meets Prince.” A New Yorker raised in California’s Bay Area, she played piano first, but her world forever changed when she heard Led Zeppelin, and from that day forward she was a guitarist. She moved to Los Angeles “because that’s where all the rock music is,” and after getting a psych degree at UCLA, she sharpened her guitar chops and formed a band. Much gigging ensued at private parties and throughout the clubland of L.A. On her first album, Dirty Little Secret, she wrote and arranged all the songs and played all the guitars, exploring themes of love, lust, and life in aggressively funky rockers and tender ballads. Writers and musicians alike caught on to the vast scope of her musicianship, likening her funky rhythm guitar style to John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Jimmy Nolen (James Brown), and her lead playing to Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. Her follow-up CD was Breathing Underwater, on which she delved into the tender side of her musical spirit with an intimate vocal delivery painted over lush acoustic guitar work. Her music soon became part of TV’s “Sex In The City” and “Dawson’s Creek,” and movies such as Dancing at the Blue Iguana, Emmet’s Mark, Pursuit of Happiness and The Assistants. Ali is currently touring behind the release of her third album, Make Your Move, produced by double Grammy-award winning producer/engineer Seth Horan. Her artistry is perpetually expanding deeper into the realms of love, passion, and the inner battle between fearless independence and the desire for companionship. “[Ali Handal is] earthy, natural, real and loaded with talent,” wrote Music Connection. “She’s a singer-songwriter with something to say… a gifted artist who brings insight and intelligence to her art.”
