Alihan Samedov was born in Sumgay--t in 1964 as a son of a musician family. He had his primary school education between 1971-1979.And he had his music education of garmon (a traditional music instrument like hand-held keyboard instrument, accordion) at Samet Vurgun Music Schooll & at Neriman Nerimanov Culture House in 1979-1982.He began his university education in 1986 and finished it in Russian, at Azerbaijan Government Pedagogy University in 1990.
He can easily play all wind instruments (balaban, clarinet, tutek, oboe, saxophone, shrill pipe) and Azerbaijan local instruments. Samedov who speaks Russian fluently also knows chess very well.
In 1993 he came to Turkey to develop his music and some of the important music companies realized him that he plays balaban perfectly.He had examined Turkish folkloric music and Turkish Classical Music themes and he composed his third album with these Turkish Classical Music inquiries.
He won a big success with his first album named Balaban and he was accepted as the word’s most famous balaban player and also his ethnic music theme inquiries and his other albums brought him a great fame.
The sound of the Balaban played by Alihan Samedov is listened and heard at many of the TV programme titles, film music and documentary music.
He published his “Balaban Method” book which was prepared according to the wishes of balaban lovers from all over the world in Turkish, English and Russian .These balaban lovers wanted to know how they could play this instrument and how they could find it and these wishes forced Alihan Samedov to write this book .
He continues his inquiries and studies about balaban to introduce to the following generation.
