Fresh off sharing the stage in England with Natacha Atlas & the Mazeeka Ensemble, Ali Shayesteh was born in Morocco to an Iranian family and spent his childhood in San Diego. He was fascinated by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and by guitarists Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, and Jeff Beck.
After spending several years playing in New York, he moved to San Francisco where he played locally and throughout the Northwest.
Ali has a strong attraction to Middle Eastern instruments and music. In addition to his guitar, Ali uses a Turkish saz and a Greek bouzouki during live shows and can be heard playing an Arabic Oud and the Persian Setar on recordings.
Currently performing in progressive rock band "Human Life Index," he and drummer David Gaziel met in San Francisco and relocated to LA with a
mission to get their music to as many people as possible. Human Life Index has opened for Kings X and Steve Vai.
