Just who then is Alison David? Very many in the music world will already be aware of the distinctive voice, both through her many collaborations and, more recently, through her own solo work. Certainly, those people who have met her or seen her perform will find it hard to forget her. A striking, six-footer with (literally) model and film star looks, Alison attacks the stage and commands attention with an enchanting, magical, stage presence. It’s an almost other-worldly – yet, as it happens, entirely natural - persona. However you describe it, many would find it hard to argue with Red FM’s assessment that she is ‘Britain’s most charismatic female performer’.
Yet for all the spell-binding stagecraft, it’s the voice which stays with you. It’s a distinctive yet flexible voice that is impossible to pin down and contain. Warm and enveloping it can be both vulnerable and uplifting, and more than anything, it’s a voice that connects with people. It contains a natural emotional content which, amongst others, causes frequent comparison to the likes of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Macey Gray and Corrine Bailey-Rae. However, Alison David is Alison David…everything she sings, everything she expresses, comes from a place deep inside…she couldn’t be or sound anything other than herself, in any event, and that makes her a true artist.
Although she is only now coming into her own as a solo artist, it’s true to say that Alison’s talents have been well recognised by many for some time nowIn fact, she already has one hell of a music resume! Many will know her for vocals with Red Snapper, more recently on Free*lands `Supernatural Thing` track. Just some of her other collaborations include Ashley Beedle (Black Science Orchestra), and The Egg. The `Afronaught` (Bugz In the Attic) mix of her track `Dreams Come True` has whipped up a storm in the dance clubs and is about to be released by Double Shock Recordings with 3 new mixes. Other celebrated artists that have assisted with her musical progression include Niall Rogers from Chic, Pete Townshend from The Who and Dave Stewart from The Eurythmics.
However, great as these collaborations are (and they are!), it’s the fact that Alison’s is now finding her own voice, writing her own songs and putting together her own projects which is causing the real excitement and interest Not afraid to take risks, her gigs can be events and happenings in their own right. She is nothing if not an artist is the purest sense of the word. To hear Alison sing leaves no doubt that one is witnessing something way beyond brilliance, it is to be shocked, energised and touched, you get the strong feeling you are witnessing something that is going to be legendary. Alison gets her heart out in her songs, she strips down and gets naked, she is known to make the boys cry and get the ladies confused over their sexuality.
The allure of this lady seems to have no bounds. She has even taken to the big screen in Warner Bros release, `Trauma`, with Colin Firth and Mena Suvari. She plays a rock diva by the name of `Lauren Parris` and sings the soundtrack. Her latest film sound track is for the film ‘The Other Half’ which will be on general release this year.
Watch out for Alison David. She is very much the live experience, as those who have caught her at recent festivals and gigs will know; her inclusion on the bill with Joan Armatrading and Carleen Anderson at the Brighton Dome being but one recent highlight. Not able to limit herself to one genre, her live sound goes from the intimacy of acoustic soul to powerful, guitar driven rocking soul, she also performs dance and jazz sets and now has the cream of the UK’s best session and live musicians queuing up to work with her. As such some exciting projects are in the works, all of which are designed to, at last, let Alison David express her own true voice as a solo artist. And she is a lady with something very personal to say.
So, all in all, her time is nigh. Hold tight and enjoy the ride - .she really is one hell of a compelling persona and very special talent indeed.

Hi Alison. Thanks for the comment! Sorry for the late reply, I haven't checked my space in ages! I'm based up north in Leeds. Fancy sorting out a gig swap sometime? I can get you a gig up here, if you could sort me out with a gig somewhere near you? Sometime in August would be ideal. Let me know asap if you're interested. I love the music on your page by the way!

Well Alison .. for some reason i thought you may like this poem i just wrote .. ------------------------------------- Life within its self
life rises and scatters like starshine birdsong cast to the wind inherent blissful lightbodys living good rising spirts unify understanding lifes smallest part a universe within its self why are we chosen to question who ourselves become within it all?
questioning lifes answers waiting to happen eternally ready
'for every question an answer for every answer a question'
why are we shown the way through so many traumas? perhaps it is so we can learn how to rise above it all.
perhaps the watchful and the true are so destined
lonesome ones surrounded by so much energy learned love within a million universes resonate peace and grow wise
with everything at our disposal so much sadness and regret it is neither the last time or the first time loves lost hope grows through it all within the largest and the small this is the best the biggest and the most dangerous
between dimensions immense moment and the infinite now we will travel together holding the past with love we move with the times of change that show us how looking back without forgetting still learning to let go
here is tension on the surface there is tension within held within the music of everything souls reasonate mellodys harmonic voice shaped in answer to the moment chouruses of questions answer lifes questing passions.. ---------------------------------- i hope that something in this text brings happyness and luck your way :]
