Influences
I am influenced primarily by western music. I have a degree in western music, but I love music from other cultures, primarily Iran, India, and Pakistan. I love latin music and intend to one day do a Spanish album. I am however, for our purposes, a rock'n'roller. Leadbelly, folks. Dylan. Woody. Pete. You get my drift... I grew up in the '80's. I listened to the Cure, Prince, Bowie, and SRV. Many great pickers in MPLS, many in CHI, too many, really. I'm really influenced by my life and my friends, family, and the world around me. Seriously, music has gotten to a point where it takes itself too serioulsy and I want no part of that. I'm an ideas person, so whatever weird idea I have at the time, THAT is what I'm influenced by. Deal.
Sounds Like
A creative outlet for a classically trained musician!
I suppose I should start at the beginning. I was born in 1972 in Georgia, grew up in California, moved to Minnesota, and now am based in Chicago. I consider Chicago to be home. I always loved music from the time I was very young. I started playing guitar around age 12. Later on in High School I wanted guitar lessons, my dad said no, so I started writing songs to cope with my frustration. The rest is history. I wrote my first song at age 15. I didn't do my first album until I turned 30, however. My first album was produced by Edgars of Plane and Forty Piece Choir. I am working on recording another album right now. I have played many of the traditional band haunts in Chicago, such as Phyllis', The Gallery, The Orphanage. Earlier this year I joined The Mythic Figs and we play the gallery the first Monday of every month. You can also see me on Songwriter Night at the Gallery, every other wednesday. The reason I don't gig a lot is because I recently became a teacher, and I am pretty invested in my students, that and that alarm clock comes pretty damn early these days! But seriously, I am planning a little tour this summer of the United States, so I may be coming to your town! I love making music and I love sharing it with you!

You are a woman after my own heart, AND have a sense of humpr. Thanx for the pic. Have fun playing for the staff and other musicians tonight. As for myself, you'll find me tonight at the Empty Bottle watching Teenage Jesus and the Jerks.
Sorry to say, but I don't do the first Monday night at the Gallery anymore. In fact I might NEVER go back to the Gallery. VERY messy situation. I'm at Quenchers almost every Monday from now on!
