Heroes My son Chase, my husband Garth and my Mom -- Mother Theresa, Ronald Reagan, Sir Winston Churchill, Mary Kaye Ashe, -- My son is my hero because even though he suffered with a physical ailment for many years, he has come through like a champ! He has so many reasons why he could've been a bad guy, but all of the struggles he's had have made him a wise and unusually compassionate man. I love you CHASE!!!! My husband Garth is also a hero of mine because as we grew to love each other his gentle manner and repository of wisdom from his past relationships helped heal places in me that no one else could ever reach. He is truly the most wonderful man who has ever pursued me and I love him completely. My mother is also my hero because she overcame incredible odds to keep all seven of us children together and raise us in the fear and admonition of God.

About me:
Ali Speaking at the "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About" Conference, Zion National Park, January 2007 Part Two "Help Me, I'm a Mom" Here is Part 3 of 4: Thanks for Watching -- Be Blessed!!! I'm here on MySpace for friendship -- only female, please (except family). I'm happily married and won't consider friendships with men because I believe it's improper. I'm a straight female who wants to talk to and support other women who have been in, or may still be in, a poor relationship and don't know how to get out of it. Or maybe they've gotten out but either keep choosing the same kinds of men who abuse them, or feel too stressed to get into another relationship at all. I felt that way myself and was very surprised when Mr. Right showed up. I'll help you see how the key is not in FINDING the right person, it's in BEING the right person! I read "Stop Walking on Eggshells" by Jamie Kreger, and it changed my life. You may or may not have the same issues (being in relationship with someone with Borderline Personality Disorder), but reading the book will help you anyway. The reason that BEING the right person matters so much is that how can you choose a healthy person from an unhealthy perspective of your own? Once you've learned who you are you can choose a person from that healthy perspective, and you'll quit going from one abusive relationship to another. So, if you'd like to hang out with someone who's 'been there, done that,' and you have a good attitude about changing yourself, then let's connect. Females, only, of course. Thanks! - - - For those of you who are interested, here is the Love Story between me and my husband Garth, as told in the Flint (MI) Journal a couple of Valentine's Days ago: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -------- Love at first byte 'Scientific' matchup goes straight to heart By Bob Wheaton bwheaton@flintjournal.com 810.766.6375 Ali McKinney was fed up with men. Garth Stabley scoffed at Internet romance. Eight months later, they're on the eve of their first Valentine's Day together, and online matchmaker eHarmony is so happy it's tapped the couple to do promotional work - encouraging other singles 50 and older to try eHarmony. Here's Ali and Garth's story: Recently divorced, the Grand Blanc woman, 50, had signed up for eHarmony at the urging of a coworker. When an eHarmony match didn't respond to her message, a frustrated Ali canceled her membership - and then thought, "What if I've closed off the man of my dreams?" The next day, Ali wrote eHarmony and said she wanted to continue to subscribe. The company gave her a free, 30-day trial membership. A few days before her trial membership was to expire, eHarmony matched Ali with Garth, a 53-year-old Las Vegas businessman. "There is hope for even the most hopeless," Ali said. Garth said, "I never thought I'd meet anyone on the Internet. I didn't know that this kind of love existed." Ali, a financial analyst for Volkswagen, was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She later moved to Texas, was married for 25 years and has a son, Chase, 17, a senior at Grand Blanc High School. Her divorce was finalized last March and she wasn't dating much before reluctantly signing up for a $99, six-month subscription to eHarmony. She told her friend, "I'm too wounded. I don't like men right now." Unlike other online dating services that lets subscribers pick their matches, eHarmony matches its subscribers with other members who have similar personalities. Members take a detailed personality test. One day, Ali signed on to her computer and a profile caught her eye. She found the youthful-looking man with the receding hairline extremely handsome. And he seemed to have a lot in common with her. It was Garth, a Detroit native who had divorced five years ago. He has a daughter, 28, and owns a patent on an all-purpose cleaning product called Terra-Kleen and says he used to do promotional work for entertainers such as The Temptations and Frankie Avalon. "When we go and search for a mate, the first thing we do is check out what they look like," Ali said. "But when eHarmony matched us, they matched us by who we are. We are so similar - everything from the way we drink our coffee, to the shows we watch, our politics, (they're both Republicans) our faith. Our temperaments are so similar." Ali and Garth exchanged messages through eHarmony for a few days. With two days left on her free membership, Ali decided to take a bold step. "I got really brave one day and I sent him my phone number," she said. "I went for broke, basically." Garth called her at home, at work and on her cell phone. No answer. He left a message. "When I found out he’d called and missed me, I didn’t think; I immediately called back," she said. "I just hit that red button and then you answered and I didn't know what to say," she said, looking at Garth and smiling. From the beginning, Ali and Garth talked on the phone three to seven hours per day. Garth still has a 2-inch stack of e-mails and photos Ali sent him in the days before they met. Over two months, Ali talked for 12,000 minutes - or 200 hours - on her cell phone. "My one bill was $904 until I changed my plan," she said. Something strange was happening to Garth. "I fell in love with Ali before I met her," he said. "I didn't think that was possible. She's the most beautiful woman - inside and out -- that I have ever met. I'm very blessed, to say the least. Other women I've been in relationship with just have no clue how to treat a man. Ali does." It was Aug. 28, a couple of months after they first made contact, when Garth came to Flint to see for the first time the woman he loved. "I have a calendar out in my kitchen that perpetually remains on Aug. 28," Ali said. She starts to cry. "When we first met at Flint Bishop Airport on the 28th of August, we knew," she said. For their first date, Ali and Garth went to a Randy Travis concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre. Garth's visit, which was to have been four days, turned into seven days - and then 25. When he went back to Nevada, Garth wrote Ali, "I felt this was my home until I came back here without you." A few days after Garth left, Ali got an e-mail asking her and Garth to appear on behalf of eHarmony at an AARP conference in Las Vegas. Ali had written eHarmony, suggesting the company include in its advertisements couples who are older than the 20-somethings who are normally in the ads. Ali jumped at the chance. She arrived in Las Vegas Oct. 13. Ali and Garth and two other couples worked at an eHarmony booth."They were without hope," Ali said of many of the visitors to the booth. "My only thought is that for every person there is a perfect mate. And it's worth any amount of effort and any amount of time and any amount of money to find that person." During the conference, Ali began to notice Garth huddled with the other two men. Something was up. Garth was thinking about proposing. They had met only 50 days earlier. He suggested that they go for a walk. "He said, 'Would you like to marry me before we leave here,'" she recalled. "I didn't have to think about it. I said, 'I don't want to leave here without being Mrs. Garth Stabley.'" Several hours later, at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 17, Garth and Ali were married. "It was the best spur-of-the-moment decision I ever made," Ali said. A few days before Valentine's Day, Garth and Ali Stabley sit on a love seat in their home. They hold hands. Ali looks attentively at Garth as he speaks, at times laying her head on his shoulder. They laugh frequently as they talk. Soul mates? I can vouch for that. Since Garth grew up in Detroit and Ali in Toledo, they even wonder if they might have crossed paths as teenagers. "We probably did meet at Cobo or something," Ali said, speculating. "You pulled my braids." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My husband and I have been on a quest to find his daughter who was abducted and hidden when her mom realized she would have to share custody with her dad. Garth hasn't seen her since -- and that's been over 20 years. But - God is Good - we have found his daughter's ex-husband who has lovingly allowed us to meet her son --our GRANDSON!! Woo Hoo! He is the sweetie in all the photos of little boys you see. We thank God that we are privileged to know him -- we met him for the first time in August 2006 and plan to go back and see him soon. We are still praying for our (my husband's) daughter, that she will let go of the lies her mother told her about her Dad. Please help me pray, won't you? Thanks, and God Bless You!

The weapons of our warfare (in the heavenlies--spiritual realm) are intercession by prophetic proclamation (speaking by the Holy Spirit), not bringing a railing accusation but through proclamation that declares the establishment of the Kingdom of God and commands Satan to get behind (a place of defeat) the kingdom and to get under the feet of God's rule. And, as ambassadors for Christ, we must engage the enemy.

YOU’VE ALREADY WON! Jesus’ declaration on the cross sums it up: “It is finished.” (John 19:30) What was finished? The battle against the power of sin and the devil.

2. Ask God to open the eyes of your heart. (Ephesians 1:18-19) You must look at life from God’s point of view. In 2 Kings 6, when Elisha was surrounded by enemy armies, his servant became afraid and said, ‘we’re surrounded, what should we do?’ Elisha didn’t pray for more angels. He prayed: “Lord, open the eyes of my servant, that he would see there are more for us than those against us.” (2 Kings 6:17) Suddenly, he saw chariots of fire and a host of angels surrounding their enemies! The battle was already won.

3. Believe you have it! In Mark 11:24, Jesus said, “That's why I tell you to have faith that you have already received whatever you pray for, and it will be yours.” That’s power this world can’t give you and money can’t buy! Remember 1 Peter 2:24 “...with His stripes you WERE healed.” Notice, God speaks to us in past tense. It’s already yours!

4. ONLY BELIEVE. Stick to what God told you to do! John 6:29 says, ‘This is our work: TO BELIEVE.’ In other words, BEFORE you pray for rain, bring your umbrella! Expect it to happen. Remember, it’s “the good fight of faith.” (1 Timothy 6:12) Our job is to believe. Our battle is to believe what God has done, and what is already ours. 2 Chronicles 20:15 says the battle is not yours, but God’s.

5. Praise God that you HAVE the victory. In 2 Chronicles 20:22 it says, "As they began to sing and praise the Lord, the Lord sent ambushes and their enemies were defeated."
