Alixandra and the Tailor Sea is a musical project fronted by singer-songwriter Alixandra Macmillan-Fiedel. Alixandra and the Tailor Sea's first full-length studio album (self-titled) was released in August of 2007, recorded in Brooklyn, NY, and in Alixandra's hometown of Santa Barbara, CA.
Alixandra first took the public stage in 2005, co-founding and producing Voices For a Cure, a benefit concert for the Scleroderma Research Foundation with friend Samantha Scher. Hosted by Bob Saget, Alixandra performed along with Dishwalla, The Ataris, The Snake The Cross The Crown, The Coral Sea, and Crosby Loggins, among others.
After releasing the album she ventured to Paris for a year where she continued to write and play with new friends. She spent the last year living in New York City finishing up her degree at Sarah Lawrence College while playing solo. This month she's moved back to her hometown where she is working on recording new material and playing shows.
“Filled with acoustic guitar, accordian, cello and assorted other touches, this young artist’s vibrant, organically rendered music is instantly infectious... [her music] echoes Edie Brickell and Emiliana Torrini. Lyrics to these original tunes are vivid and well-turned, setting a scene that comes alive. This engaging young performer has a natural, genuine talent that deserves attention.” --Music Connection
“Tailor Made: Alixandra Macmillan-Fiedel is a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, and along with the Tailor sea, she’s sure to make quite a splash…Fresh out of the studio with a new, 12-song album, Alixandra and the Tailor Sea craft beautiful, folksy numbers like Rilo Kiley...” --Aly Comingore, The Santa Barbara Independent
"A kitchen sink of instruments (cello, xylophone, mandolin, and harmonica, among others) provide the score for the album’s diverse subject matter... Alixandra’s lyrics balance ambiguity and concrete ideas in a ratio that invites diverse interpretations without being overtly cryptic. So although Alixandra and the Tailor Sea echo the traditional idioms of folk music, the band’s instrumental variety and lyrical inventiveness sets them apart brilliantly from the status quo, and are musical tidings not to be missed." --The Hippodrome

Thanks! I can't wait to hear the new stuff you've been working on. I can't even tell you how often your last CD is played in my house. I'm at Sarah Lawrence right now. We should see each other this weekend.
Got your CD last week... many thanks. Listening to Sparrow right now. Sooo glad I got to hear it live.
Enjoy CA... I'm right behind you, planning a visit early fall. Too bad I'll just miss you, but if you're playing somewhere, let me know and I'll tell my sister!
Hope our paths cross again someday. Best of luck in the Big Apple!
Any chance you can hook me up with a link to--or a copy of that song you did at Spoken Word a couple months back... the one that made me cry?! "She loves you more than I do..."?!?! I still can't get over it!
