Changin’ Times

My Dad told me he wouldn't know I was a dyke if he saw me on the street.

This annoyed me.

I told him he has bad gaydar.

This hurt his feelings.

Times, they are 'a changin.

My mom points out girls she thinks are gay, to me all the time.

And she knows my type too.

But when her gaydar is off, I let her know.

She can't always tell when it comes to men.

    Interesting.

My mom knows I like the typical woman that looks like Ellen.

    It's always amusing.

But when I start talking to her about my friends, and who's dating who, she gets
quiet, and tries not to absorb what I am saying.

    I can feel it.

Maybe for her, lesbians on tv, aren't threatening.

Maybe when she hears my stories, we become too real for her to handle.

My 9 yr old daughter stated at the dinner table that when she gets married they will pronounce them wife and wife.....guest almost fell out of chair....not a huge shocker to me cause....well like mother like daughter......

She also said she will NEVER shave her armpits and actually would like to braid them....

Oh and she told us emphaticly at age 3 "do not EVER buy me a barbie doll" and we never have....

    times they are a changin

My dad died @ 5 years ago. When I ask my mom if she wants to re marry, date ect she says: I want to find a gay man to pal around with. I don't want to sleep with anyone, i don't want to talk to any one about condoms and STI's.....

Yeah times are really changing (She didn't speak to me for a month after my "coming out party"

Peace and here's to times changing.

    Here's another great story:

Christmas with the nieces and nephews:

kid 1: Why don't you have a husband?
    Me: I don't date boys
Kid 2: You don't date BOYS??!??
Me: No I date women. Girls.

    Kid 3: Why?
Me: I don't know really I was born this way.

Kid 2: So you like girls the way mommy likes daddy?
    Me: Yes, like that

    All Kids: Oh, Shrug ok.

    end of conversation.
Now whenever I talk to them they ask did you find a wife yet? (they live in Cali) Times are sooooooooooooooo changing

    ;p

  • her most excellency, Qu…

Funny, I annoyed my mom by telling her she had bad gaydar while discussing something that happened 10 years ago where she thought a guy she didn't know is gay had a crush on a friend of mine. "You had bad gaydar" (I silently reflected that now both myself, and someone who is basically a nephew to my parents has also come out) .. aparently REALLY bad gaydar." Silly.

my friends father told her when she came out that he was cool with it as long as she stayed fem and didn't become all butched out...i suppose a woman who refuses to be a sex symbol is threatening...i mean, it is like telling someone of color to hide their skin...yes, the times they are a changin' indeed!
