Born in the south of France, Alkama grew up under the influence of an oldschool electro LP called "Onyx" (produced by "Space Art"): from 4 to 10yo, this 12'' brought him terrible anguish crisis and evil nightmares. But fascinated as he was, he couldn't help playing it.
This first and distressful encounter with electronic music shaped his whole life...
Soon, he was studying the piano, saxophone and harmony and began triturating an Amiga500, coding some realtime computergraphics in assembler and tracking music. Later in his teen age, he discovered the joys of homestudio gears and midi composing. He ended joining a digital art movement called "demoscene" [1].
In 1998, while studying computerscience in Montpellier, he met Olivier M (half of The Youngsters, aka Rodriguez Jr). A longlasting friendship was born. They shared a lot of electronic music influences and dived into the techno music, especially digging the detroit and chicago sounds. They coproduced a bunch of tracks under the "Alkama & Mo" moniker.
After graduating from an engineer school in 2003, Alkama moved to Paris.
Nowadays, he keeps on producing and remixing music. He's trying to build a set of solid tracks to start seeking for labels to release them.
[1]Demoscene is about realtime computer-generated videoclips (It's like games, technologicaly-wise, but without interactions). Alkama is currently member of the Calodox of switzerland and Tpolm of finland crews.
::: Salmiakki / Tpolm A video capture of a little intro I designed and programmed. Music by Xhale (I remixed the 2nd part), sound-compression code by Dake, I did the rest)
This production originally runs in realtime. The whole program is just 64kb big ! (to get an idea, it could fit in the header of a floppy disk, or you could store 10000 of those on a CD-R). It's coded in C++ and uses OpenGL.
::: 98 Seconds / Calodox Video capture of a demo I co-designed and programmed. Gfx by Fred. Music by AdamF (track "73" from the "Colours" album)
Dark Horse rocks mate! Love the bassline! Really appreciate the top friends too! Means a lot!! :) Hope you've had a great weekend and that all is well... Nic
JOHN LORD FONDA "COMPOSITE" out on march 16th! Many artists have been invited by John Lord Fonda on this album : Sergeï Prokofiev, Daft Punk, Crash Course in Science, Laurent Dailleau, Public Enemy, James Holden, Sébastien Tellier and Adam Kesher are among the chosen people...
Cheers Alkama! Much respect for your tracks too, all of them, especially 'Your Heartbeat' and 'Malmoe in Januar'. Really clever music, you have trentemoller in your blood! ;) Later
