About Alastair Kilgour and Alasdair Clarke

Al met Al when they both joined a short lived Edinburgh based rock band in 2005. After many months of talking about playing together they finally got around to it at the start of 2006. Al spent the first part of the year learning the other Al’s songs and fitting bass parts to them, occasionally trying them out at some of the various open mic nights around Edinburgh (The Left Bank, Southsider, Whistlebinkies).

It’s now 2008 and AlKandAlC exist in two forms: the duo - kind of more folky. With acoustic guitar, fretless bass, aspirations of sounding like John Martyn, loop pedals and occasion slightings of custom 10 string guitars and Jenny. the band - Al swaps acoustic for electric. The other Al swaps fretless for fretted. And Lucy (fiddle) and Niki (drums) join in too. I guess it’s alt-country folk rock, without much country.

Alastair:

Al has a guitar and he plays pretty songs with it. He also sings. He smiles a lot too.

Alasdair:

The other Al is an altogether different creature and when not trying to restrain himself by being listenable, goes by the name Riadsala.

So when is the Cd coming out? We need your soft tunes - restful as a babbling brook, seductive as a lover's murmur, to grace secret cds sometime next year.
Sooner rather than later though please?

Yes, yes, yes! So good to see and hear the old team back together again. Blue Wednesday has missed you.
Thanks also to Al for some great bass-playing assists on Bluesfather songs. All-in-all, a good night at the Forest.

Ali, man!
The new song is brilliant! Keep writing. I've just had a burst of the old creative and have turned out three in two weeks. Al and I have already rehearsed one. Big sorry for not getting the CD out to you but sudden lack of cash, to be rectified tomorrow, has curtailed all but the most essential activities. Have cleared space for your return to BW in September. Hope that's OK. See recent blogs regarding fate of the Forest.
Take care, man.

Ali, man,
Don't know how often you check your MySpace, but, hey, a big hello from Edinburgh anyway.
The CD is all ready to go, nicely, if a mite hand-drawn, packaged with sufficient sleeve notes to identify the guilty parties without revealing previous musical crimes. Send me a mailing address and I'll get a wee bit of Edinburgh music over to you pronto.
Let me know when you're back and ready to play and I'll make space for you at Blue Wednesday, which is still going strong, despite your absence.
Take care, man.
