Alkatronica is a unique four-piece electronic force that combines influences of funk, jazz, and all out electronic melt-your-face dance music otherwise known as Drunk Electronic Funk (D.E.F.). Alkatronica is comprised of Aaron Collins on drums, Jonny Decker on slap-bass, Andrzej Benkowski on saxophone, and Nick Pilz on synths.
Alkatronica emerged on the Madison music scene in early 2007 with a fresh sound that has been bringing crowds back for more. Their unique instrumentation leads to improvisational grooves making every show a new journey and/or quest.
The idea of Alkatronica was started by Aaron and Nick who had played in the Madison project General Theory. After time, the realization of the need for some new sounds came up, and they decided to bring saxophone virtuoso Andrzej to the project. As a trio, Alkatronica began spreading the word of D.E.F. throughout the Madison music scene. Soon after, the trio discovered Jonny - the slap-bass phenom. Jonny sat in with the band during a live show at the King Club and provided a element that enhanced the sound of Alkatronica, creating a four-piece with a mission.
Alkatronica continues to blow up the live music scene across Wisconsin and the midwest. With the wind at their back and the sun upon their faces, may the wings of destiny carry them aloft to dance with the stars.
