30 finalists have been chosen and All-American Fencing Academy, LLC has been selected as one of the finalists to win a $1000 grant. The field of finalists for this grant will be determined by the vote and everyone is invited to vote for their favorite small business finalist.

The All-American Fencing Club gave it's best performance during the Mid-South Grand Open tournament at Durham, NC.
Shortly after opening it's doors, the new fencing school, Mid-South Fencers Club (Durham, NC), held it's first tournament. The All-American Fencing Club fielded 6 fencers in two different events, the open foil and the open epee.
Veteran epee fencers Paul Hovey and Esteban Muniz hoped for a good season finish as they prepare for the North Carolina Championships. Esteban once again stunned highly favored Maxwell Tice-Lewis (of the North Carolina Fencing Development Program) during the opening rounds with a 5-2 victory.
Esteban is stopped in the third round of direct eliminations by second place finisher, Alexander Shalaurov of the North Carolina Fencing Development Program.
Paul Hovey had a difficult opening pool, winning only 1 of 5 rounds. However, he regained control in the direct elimination rounds facing the same opponents he lost to previously in the pool. Paul continues to the fourth round of eliminations with comeback victories.
He trailed in many of the elimination rounds but was able to methodically recover to win two rounds by one touch, 15-14. He fell to third place finisher Tom Bryan of the Raleigh Fencers Club with a final placement of 8th place; Paul's highest placement at a tournament with over 30 competitors.
The All-American Fencing Club also fielded 4 fencers in the open foil tournament. Including head coach Gerhard Guevarra, new fencers Dale Dingle, Gary Kerbaugh and Tabitha Middleton entered their first away tournament with exceptional results.
Despite losing Gary to an injury early in the preliminary rounds, fellow team members Dale and Tabitha finished their rounds with a few wins.
