FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Venice Songfest begins:
Allan has been in pre-production for the past several weeks for a monthly open-mike and headline showcase at the Talking Stick at 1411-C Lincoln Blvd. in Venice CA. Johnny Szmyd and Rey Pozon (Songsmith Productions) are co-producing and RAMEKEGA and Comeau/Szmyd will be regularly featured artists.
Allan will host an open-mike there from 7 to 8 pm - room for 6 acts/2 songs each to lead into the 8 to 10 pm show.
Comeau/Szmyd will also play the "warm-up" show, from 6:30 to 7 - sometimes with invited guests - so count on some surprises.
This is a great opportunity for Westside LA and Santa Monica singer-songwriters to get together and play, to network and to hope that the record company execs are coming that night!
Please look at Allan's performance schedule for dates and times.
GRAMMY News – My 2007 CD, Life Is in Session, made it through the Grammy selection process and is (was) eligible for nominations in 9 categories – if you know anyone who is an Academy member – please mention me (for next year) and the music (will be submitting my recent digital release,War & Peace; Sin & Salvation for the 2010 awards). I'd be happy to send it or the links to them.
I’m (I was) eligible for:
Record of the Year – Sin to Be Saved
Album of Year
Song of Year (with Loni Specter) – Sin to Be Saved
Best New Artist
Best Solo Rock Vocal –
Best Rock Song
Best Male Country Vocal
Best Country Song, and
Best Folk Album – Whew!
I know that “actual” GRAMMY nominations are usually (almost always) awarded to much more established artists, backed by large budgets of major labels. Still, I'm enjoying, for the moment, (still enjoying) the temporary joy of being “almost nominated.”
If you haven’t purchased a copy of Life Is in Session, now would be a great time to do so – there are links in this page, or you can visit iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, DiggStation, etc.
THIS JUST IN:
In the last few weeks several new land-based and internet radio stations have begun playing my music – maybe it’s a “critical mass’ thing.
Please check out the Willinois Music Jukebox! Site:

You might hear them playing “Marshall Law,” among their other fine music selections.
I’ll list some other stations playing my songs soon.

Lots of gigs and a little bit of luck and recognition have been coming Allan's way in the past few months. Here's the poster for the Temecula Music Fest (you'll find a reference to Allan on the bottom, to the right). Allan and Johnny Szmyd had an eventful weekend in 2008 and look forward to the 2009 Fest.
Allan was recently nominated for an Inland Empire Music Award in the "Best Country" category. The award ceremony was held on January 31 at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, CA. Allan says "Thanks to my fans and all my supporters, this is a great honor and a much deserved acknowledgement for all who worked on "LIfe Is in Session" with me."
I’m happy to report that “O Katrina” has been aired several times on Cecil Doyle’s Medicine Ball Caravan show at KRVS 88.7 FM at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. They play to be streaming soon, so check out their site at: www.krvs.org.
