Hi friends! I'm Allan Dawson, a singer, songwriter and guitarist from the UK. I'm originally from North Wales, but I tend to move about regularly around the UK in a determined effort to eventually escape altogether! :-)
In my travels, I have been on a big journey as a songwriter and I have a substantial collection of songs which I have written for performance and developed live in front of many audiences. I'm working on compiling this material into a double album project, provisionally titled Start Again and due for release next year. Start Again brings together a strong and diverse mixture of songs inspired by many aspects of the complexity of modern life, combined with the struggles of a young musician trying to survive in the modern world. A selection of material from the album is hosted on this page as a preview of what is to come.
Obviously, studio time is the main focus for my solo artist project at the moment, so I am not touring at present. However, a very exciting recent development is that I have now started performing live in Second Life - which is a great way for me to develop my live show and make great new friends. Second Life is a three dimensional world which looks like a computer game but simply provides a space where people can meet, do business, etc, and more importantly attend live concerts! Joining Second Life is free, you get a little 3D character to run around with and you have to give it a name other than your own (dont ask me why!). I have a separate myspace page for my avatar which has information on upcoming shows and hosts some raucous live recordings - check it out here.
I have been involved in music for most of my life and I am also a producer/engineer and an internet music pioneer. I have worked on recording live performances for DVD releases by established artists such as Jesus Jones, Shed7, Berlinda Carlisle, Hawkwind and Southside Johnny, to name a few. I also worked for a couple of years on a pioneering internet radio station, as the main presenter for a show called "Waking Up The Neighbours!" showcasing music by many talented unsigned artists to over 20,000 listeners per week!
New! - Interactive Tour Management!
Okay, this is ultra-modern tour management in action! At some point when I finally emerge from my cave brandishing a shiney new album, I will want to go out and play it at different places to YOU LOT! :) So, what I want you to do is to add yourselves onto this map below and tell me in the comments section where you want me to play in your area! Then, as the pinpoints add up, I will use this to decide where future gigs are going to be... ...anywhere in the world (if there are enough of you!). It asks for your e-mail address in here but that is only used by frappr.com to allow you to edit the entry in future, I don't get access to that e-mail address and frappr.com assure us they don't pass those details out to anyone. So please, if you're new to this page and you want me to come play near you, make sure you add me as a friend as well so that I can let you know when I'm coming to play! Later! Al x

Hey there Thanks for the add. I love the layout of your page. I am still trying to get mine organized. Organization is such a pain...I would rather play music! If I make to the UK in the late Spring, would you be interested in sharing and collaborating on some shows? ~grace~
Ahh cheers mate! I've just set my page up so its all in the early stages...but great to have such a positive response from people already! Wicked stuff too mate, especially 'Why Did You Never'...and loving the bass line in Blackout. Awesome!
yw your song will probably be not to long there cause I tend to change them rather often, sad that I can have only one song on MySpace, but it's one of the best you realy rock.
Awesome "theme from the Godfather". I play it on the organ..........but you do a much better job!!!! I think you should do a medley of classical music like Steve Vie! You're my favorite gutarist (Zaphod claims a close second) hahahahaha
Yes the summer days are really inspiring, spending a lot of time in the garden in the sun, enjoying myself with the old guitar and soaking it all in...
