Interests

  • General

My family, first and foremost, followed by writing and sports, especially baseball and football. ..
  • Music

It's tough to narrow down, because I've always been a big music fan, but I saw a Bruce Springsteen concert in St. Louis in a small venue around 1978 - best concert ever, hands down, bar none, end of story. ..

I also like Collective Soul, Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Matchbox 20, Nickelback, All-American Rejects, Daughtry, Boys Like Girls, and a lot more.

Oh yeah, and if you've never checked out Recycled Percussion, do yourself a favor and do it NOW! These guys are Blue Man Group on speed. Without the Blue. Or the speed, presumably. My friend Jimmy Mags composed all of the music for their show and plays guitar...
  • Movies

Any thriller, suspense, mystery or comedy. If you're looking for specifics, how about: Identity, Body Heat, True Lies, Airplane!, Caddyshack. Anything, really, unless it's too girly or something the critics all love. ..
  • Television

24, Heroes, Chuck, Psych, Leverage, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, any Red Sox game and any Patriots game. Oh yeah, and Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel. I don't know why but I love that show; don't judge me.
  • Books

Any Jack Reacher novel, anything from Lawrence Block or Donald Westlake(RIP) or Barry Eisler or Tom Piccirilli or Dean Koontz or Stephen King. Jeez, I could go on forever. Any thriller or suspense novel basically... ..
  • Heroes

My dad, who passed away eleven years ago, but who, before he died, taught me more about how to live my life than I ever learned in school, or anywhere else for that matter. He wasn't rich or important, at least not in the commonly understood sense of the words, but he meant more to me than I could ever say... ..

About me:

....
..

I've always loved to write, even attending college with the intention of becoming a newspaper journalist. Somewhere along the way life took an unexpected sideways turn, as it always seems to do, and my goal of writing words for a living took a back seat to other stuff.

Today, I'm happy to say that I consider myself a writer, even though I move airpanes around in the sky for a living - think of it as a really big Rubik's Cube - until I convince an agent and publisher (and, of course, readers) to see things my way.

My family comes first, always, and writing comes next, among the things I love. Thanks for checking out my Myspace, and if you love fiction, stop in and see me at www.allanleverone.com!

Who I'd like to meet:

I suppose it's too late to meet Edgar Allen Poe or H.P. Lovecraft, and I've sort of already met Stephen King, having stood in line behind him at a video store in the mid-1980's in Bangor, Maine. I don't know if HE remembers it, but I certainly do.

One of my literary heroes is thriller author Lee Child, who I met last summer and who graciously signed a book for me. I have also met Bary Eisler briefly, and have to say he strikes me as a guy who would be a blast to share a beer with. I would love to meet Lawrence Block, Tom Piccirilli and any of about a million other authors whose material I love.

Hi! Just wanted to make sure all my friends know that my new erotic horror novel THE 13TH is now in stores everywhere! I hope you'll check out this debauched and demonic horror ride!

There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.

Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."

And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

I think it was the two write-ins that I can thank for getting me so far in NaNo. I've done this five years and this is the first time I've actually made the word count and won. Last year a friend of mine said it that the write-ins really helped her push forward and the two I had did the same. Good Luck!!

    Dear Allan,
Thank you for connecting with me here on Myspace.
"You are meant to live an expansive, exhilarating, good-feeling experience. You were born knowing that you are a powerful being; that you are good; that you are the creator of your experience. So start telling a better-feeling story about the things that are important to you, about the things you want most in your life. Tell the uplifting, fanciful, magical story of the life you want and watch what happens. It will feel like magic as your life begins to transform right before yours eyes, but it is not by magic. It is by the power of the Laws of the Universe." --The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks
