AMATEUR, PERSONAL BACKGROUND: I began my training at age 14, I began my amateur boxing career at 16. Prior to entering the pro ranks, I was a five-time state champion and four-time regional champion I compiled a 55-6 with 40 knock-outs record. I broke the world record for quickest knockout in the 2002 Golden Gloves National Championships held in June 02 in Denver, Co. The previous record for a knockout was 8 seconds, set by Iron Mike Tyson over 20 years ago. I knocked out Tommy Crupe from Detroit, in the Quarterfinal round in 6 seconds, on my way to becoming the 2002 National Golden Gloves Light-Heavyweight Champion. I turned down an opportunity to compete in the 2004 Olympics to join the professional ranks of boxing.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER: At the age of 27, im a five-year pro. A prospect at 168 pounds, I stay active in the ring and produced several impressive performances. I have fought on national television on several occasions.
Regarding my nickname, after one of my fights, Sugar Ray Leonard said, 'That was sweetness. I signed with Sugar Ray Leonard in 2002, but due to Ray Leonards television show The Contender the contract was desolved.
I have two televised wins to my credit against a previously undefeated prospects, scored a second-round TKO against Conal MacPhee (9-0 going in) on July 2, 2004 on ESPN,and scoring a first round 18 second KO against New York Supermiddle Weight Champion Jaidon The Don Codrington (9-0 with 9 KOs going in) on Nov 4 ,2005 on Shobox. I stepped up in class on May 20, 2005, and won a seventh-round technical decision against former Toughman, Rocky Smith (11-2) (who was coming off and upset win over previously undefeated Nick Cook) on June 20, 2005 on Shobox. 3 months later I put on a boxing clinic against gamed but outclass Spoiler Ted Muller (16-3)on Aug 26, 2005 on ESPN.I learned alot from the Donnie McCrary (17-3)fight on ESPN April 26, 2006, were I was rocked and dropped in the 3 round by former sparring partner who didnt belong in the same dressing room with me, let alone the same ring.(Be up for every fight was what I learned.)I wont even speak on the Anthony Bonsante (26-7)fight on ESPN July 21, 2006, if you saw, the fight you remember the "Left Hook". I admit my toughest challenge was against slick british boxer Ola Afolabi (11-1),but also tough rugged veteran southpaw Emmett Linton (33-4) Sept 1, 2006,on ESPN it was my closes score fight, but to say it was "Hometown Cooking" is ludicris. My most current fight was against Jerson Ravelo (17-1) on ESPN Oct 14, 2006, I was motivated for this fight because alot of people thought it was a upset in the making.( Yeah right) My KO came in the final round,of round 8.
CURRENT:I resides in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I am trained by young and active trainer John David Jackson at Ghost Dog Gym in North Tulsa.( I Train for my fights in Fort Lauderdale, FL at The Contender Gym) Promoted by Tony Holden's Holden Promotions, the sky is the limit for me as we are in talks with HBO and Showtime for multi-fight contracts. Im a vegetarian and a gang activist, that has never experiemented with drugs or alcohol, I give motivational speeches against drugs and gangs in my hometown. I really have no plans of moving out of Broken Arrow,OK, where me and my children and 2 dogs reside.
