ALLBALLSOUT's Interests

General	Retrograde is a new theatrical production, written and performed by ALL BALLS OUT Ensemble. Inspired by the popular phrase, “mercury in retrograde”, the members of ALL BALLS OUT set out to interpret this astronomical phenomenon with human interaction on the stage. Retrograde depicts the contemporary culture of 20-somethings in New York City. This generational portrayal illustrates the struggle for self-definition in terms of lifestyle, class, and sexuality; which are still so hard to define within the seemingly liberal barriers that contain modern society in New York City.

Movies	How We Do It: The creative process takes place in workshop form as an ensemble. The members of ALL BALLS OUT are committed to building a complete work through stages of research, writing, and improvisation. Working together is great inspiration to each individual voice that is interpreted in the writing and brought to life in the performances.

ALL BALLS OUT is a collaborative ensemble. The ensemble members of ALL BALLS OUT are young artists, striving to accurately represent the 20-something age group that is misrepresented in mass-media. The work created, illustrates social interactions of the Metropolitan culture, giving a clear, raw voice to the current generation of city-dwelling, young adult, New Yorkers. Each member participates in all stages of the creative process, writing and performing new works, developed through innovative workshops. The work created is a manifestation of artistic risks provoked by the challenge to redefine the current underground performance art movement in New York City. Just Jen	May 9 2008 8:47 PM WISH I could have made it tonight .... I still fell alittle sick. But i hope all went well and u KICKED ASS!!! Work went well, I hope u had a relaxing day cuz u'v bin working so hard. But i did all of my work today and correct everything that i messed up. I think i did really well and i did the mail too and also everything that was in the file section. ill see u on sunday!! Have a fun weekend. C u on monday

It is a pleasure to meet with such amazing artists every week for the workshop of “Retrograde”. The energy created by the Ensemble is the driving force that provokes me in my own craft. It is rare to find a group so well-rounded with talent and so ready to take risks with their character development, writing, and (inter)acting. “Retrograde” has been a very challenging workshop process. It has required an enormous amount of commitment and skill. It is only because of the devoted and highly skilled individuals in the Ensemble that “Retrograde” is such a sharp and poignant piece of groundbreaking art. What is exposed in the piece is a raw and accurate representation of our generation in New York. “Retrograde” is a witty theatrical interpretation of real life; it is a beautiful creation for all to enjoy. I could not be more honored to be a part of it all.
ish	Mar 23 2008 3:18 PM This Theater company is a big FU to the standards of theater, it is a way that actors can actually create art and not just conform to cut throat buisness world of acting. It is a place where we can feel comfortable making art and being createive. Retrograde has been a long process and I am truly proud of every bit of work that everyone has done from the beginning. Together we can make the difference.

Seriously, though, it's an honor to be working with such a passionate and talented cast, this project is still in development, but it's picking up snow so quickly and I can't wait until we rock the stage with our awesome work!
