All-Con is a three day arts and fan convention held annually at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dallas, Texas. The convention begins at 8:00 Friday morning and runs all day and night through 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
The hotel offers conveniences all weekend such as a full service restaurant every convention day, free parking in the covered parking garage, reduced room rates to convention attendees who identify themselves at the time their initial reservations are made, a lobby coffee bar, and a full-service sports lounge with an after hours grill menu.
Celebrity guests and media guests are present all three days hosting discussion panels, and mingle with convention attendees. Specific times are scheduled for guests to sign autographs, draw sketches, perform on stage, and meet fans.
Discussion panels are organized by guests, fan groups, organizations, local professionals, and entertainers. Panels begin every hour on the hour. Depending on the time of day and special event scheduling, All-Con can operate up to eight panels at once. Prizes from donor sponsors will be randomly awarded at the beginning of each discussion panel.
Exhibits and demonstrations. Organizations will have scheduled performances to entertain and educate convention attendees, running concurrently with the discussion panel schedule.
Multiple tier gaming. Demonstration/instructional play, casual gaming, and sanctioned tournaments will keep the attention of table-top miniature and card-based gamers for the weekend.
Fan feature room. This room, also known as the Video Room, will be screening independent films and short films 24 hours a day through the convention. Friday evening will include a special event, “Popcorn and a Movie”, during which free popcorn will be given to people who are watching the feature length film.
Dealer’s room. All-Con’s diverse audience of attendees attracts an equally unique blend of vendors and artisans eager to show off their wares and articles. Armored security is posted throughout.
Performances. Unwind at the convention as professional entertainers bring you live music, burlesque, and cabaret all in separate performances throughout the weekend.
Costume competition on Saturday night. Awards will be presented in eight categories with cash prizes for the top competition winners.
Ms. Star Wars competition. No costumes are necessary to compete in this ultimate fangirl competition about a certain Saga from a galaxy far, far away. A little bit of skill, a little bit of knowledge, and maybe a bit of the old Jedi mind trick will lead to one ‘hopeful’ being crowned Ms. Star Wars for the upcoming year. (This event is organized by the Dallas/Ft Worth chapter of FanForce.)
Shadowcasting: Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s just a jump to the left with a night of live shadowcasting (movie, cast, and props) will put you back into the mindset necessary to keep you going at a full three-day convention.
